I see a lot of American users talk about/post pictures of women with lotion or oils on their feet. Is this a big thing in the US? I've never known female friends, girlfriends or even family members to use lotion here in the UK or when I lived in Germany and Australia.
I only recently found out from a black friend that she has to put lotion on her skin otherwise it gets ashy.
Honestly it's a mind opener! As I say I never know about lotions.
So...
To the fetishists who like it, what's the appeal? To me it looks like something that just gets in the way, makes things a little too greasy. I'm genuinely curious - this isn't a back handed insult or anything petty like that .
And is there a reason why lotions and oils are big in the US?

I love lotioning my girl's feet because it makes them soft and smooth. And she likes it too, for the same reason. Also, oil/lotion gives feet a shiney/silky appearence, which I really like.

I don't like the look, feel, smell, or obviously, taste, of feet with lotion or oil on them. I do, however, enjoy a pair of feet that have been lotioned many hours prior so the lotion has full time to be absorbed. That makes the feet much softer and smoother.

I'm with Iowas foot slave. I appreciate soft feet, but I don't want any notice of lotion. I don't mind a little roughness if they smell and taste great! I find most girls feet stay pretty soft without abundant work.

Not sure if you're referring to photos, foot jobs or both.
As far as photos I absolutely love the look of oily feet. It not only looks sexy but, as one who always uses oils for footjobs, feels great as well. Lotion does little to nothing for me in photos though I sometimes wonder if the effect isn't to make it resemble cum.
Since I'm not a sniffer and also love smooth feet I appreciate lotions but have never used that for fj's.

I don't like lotion, it takes the scent away. To make feet/soles soft, a lot of sweating is the best way.
Tonight I'm going to enjoy my wives feet: 4 days in the same hose and boots !!!

I like when my wife puts lotion on at the beginning of the day to make her feet soft and smooth. But I don't like her putting lotion on at night, cause night time is when I kiss her feet and I don't like the taste of lotion and I like how her feet smell after wearing shoes all day.

I think its all been said. Lotion is great for keeping feet in good shape but it ruins the smell if applied too soon before play. I often have girls who lotion before "bedtime" because they are embarrassed at the dryness or the smell of their feet. It burns me up. I'd gladly take a lil dry for the complete foot smell and I tell them everytime.
Oil? I like the glossy oiled up look. Visually it works well on feet (as welk as ass and titties) as well as making them physicall slick for a nice glide feel during a job BUT once applied u become committed to feet on dick only lol. Trade offs and opportunity costs.

Many uk women neglect their feet. When I met my wife, she never paid any attention to her feet. Then slowly i got her to look after her feet. I hate cracked heels or flat heels. The wife now creams her feet everyday. They are so soft and smooth i love massaging them. So i say more cream/lotion.

That tells me more about your wife than UK women in general. I've been here for a few years now and none of the women I meet have ugly feet, nor do they use creams.
My girl is a hiker and doesn't use creams, yet her feet are the best I've come across. Always smooth, no cracks.
When I flew out to California in July last year I saw way too many cracked heels
