National Fashionistas Presents: The Finals Classic.

Famous actresses throughout history include Joan Crawford, Katharine Hepburn, Greta Garbo, Lillian Gish, and Marilyn Monroe. Vivien Leigh, Audrey Hepburn, Ingrid Bergman, Esther Williams, and Raquel Welch. Some of the women listed had shoes made by Salvatore Ferragamo, while would've easily been honored to have had the same done for them. Several actresses had shoes personally handcrafted by the legendary showmaker himself, becoming immortalized to his vision and art of what sexy is when you include women and wonderful shoes in the same idea that turned into reality.

If Salvatore Ferragamo had lived on forever and never aged to be too old, he would've done the same for the actresses, singers, and models who came through in the generations afterwards, and generations long after those. Women such as Cheryl Ladd, Paulina Porizkova, Heidi Klum, Beyoncé, and Megan Fox.

Had the National Fashionistas been around since the 1920s, these women would've been the recipients of the newest edition of the Ferragamos for any given year that fits their time and generation. Megan Fox was once the wearer of those shoes. Even though Salvatore was not there physically, his presence was felt through his spirit. Ferragamo loved Candice Swanepoel so much, he wanted to slip those shoes on her feet a second year in a row.

Now, the legacy and tradition will finally add someone new to the list of legends, the list of women who will be remembered for generations to come so that they will be the envy of new women in the future who would want to pay their respects and admiration for the stars who came before them.

In the National Fashionistas, that is the event in where stars are born. In the Finals Classic, this is where Legends are made. In a finals that's going to be a classic, a new name will be added to the list of women who are classics.

Here, we have a live performance from Selena Gomez, singing a her that will be coming off her newest album. I could have showed the NBC version of the performance where the quality was clearer. However, I went with the angle taken from a fan who was there to see her perform live. The quality is not as clear, but you get a different feel watching it because it's like looking at raw footage of the event itself. Only when you look at the raw footage do yo really get the sense that the person actually existed. I don't know, it's weird in that sort of way.

The link below the YouTube clip is the kind of shoes she wore wile performing that song, except the pictures show the same shoe in a different color than the color Selena actually wore.

DAVID LETTERMAN

These pictures and video were taken during Selena Gomez's last visit to the Ed Sullivan Theatre. The clip is almost ten minutes long and it's a funny interview throughout their dialog. If there's anything about that clip that you should pay attention to, it's the part from 5:30-6:40 in the video. To me, that was the highlight right there.

When a woman is in the Finals Classic, she is in it for more than just a shot at a championship ... she is in it to show that she is not one of the greats, but one of the greatest. She's not only in it to make history, but to become part of it. The only way to leave a legacy people remember, is by doing something they can't forget.

The Finals Classic.

I can't believe that we're finally here. After this there will be no more matches. At the beginning of the season, Audrina was one of the candidates who would've made the finals. At the same time, Selena was not expected to be here. I'm sure she has her fans, but even they would not have seen any of this coming when the season started.

My feelings about this year's finals is that even though I voted for Audrina, I do not feel confident that she's going to win this match. If she were facing anyone else in the finals, then I felt she would've had a better chance of winning. Selena Gomez is the reason I don't feel confident in Audrina. I truly feel that she would've had a better chance against Jessica Lowndes than she does against Audrina. With Selena being as unpredictable as her fortune has been over the last month, then for Audrina, this is the last person you want to see.

Audrina has gone through some tough opponents to get here. Let's not discount what Selena hadto go through to get here. I would't go as far as to say the both Roise and Bar were falling apart, but they certainly were not at the top of their game. She took advantage of them and she took care of another opponent who gave her a tougher challenge in Jessica Lowndes.

Now against Audrina, since Selena has nothing to lose, then that means she has no reason to be scared of anything.

I don't trust Audrina in big matches because historically, she's a choke artist. Let's not forget that she finished the season quite poorly herself.

My heart says Audrina, but my head is saying that the majority would vote for Selena.

I'm voting for Selena in this match. Aside from that, you're right. I don't know how Audrina fans can go into this match with a lot of confidence. I also thought that my feelings about Audrina winning the whole thing was going to be more in her favor had she faced Jessica Lowndes or someone else. I think Lowndes has defeated Audrina late in the season, but I would still favor Audrina in that match. Going into this match, however, I felt that Audrina is the underdog and that this whole Cinderella ride that Gomez is on is going to pay off in the end. Right now, Audrina has a pretty solid lead in the early goings. If Audrina can keep that lead on Selena, then she would prove me wrong.

Just to make sure, Audrina is going to need all the votes she can get before Gomez starts to mount some sort of comeback. If Selena cannot get her act together real soon, then this match is going to be over before you it.

I voted for Selena, thinking that by the time I pressed the Submit button that the match would be pretty even. As of now 27 guys have voted. Never was I expecting that Audrina would be up by 13 at this time. If I was Selena's coach, I'd call for a time out. A time out is needed to come up with a new plan to get back in this match because whatever our original plan was, it's not working.

I think Selena's pictures are a lot better than what Audrina has brought to the table, but so far guys like myself are in the minority.

About that Letterman interview, first off, I'm glad the clip is up and running again because for a while there the clip was taken down. Anyway, those shoe department pictures and that clip that went along with it was what officially won me over with Selena, especially the part National highlighted. That one-liner Selena said during that portion of the clip was the part that got her my vote. She embarrassed that kid and made him look like the little bitch we all knew he was to begin with. Love it. [Smile]

I'm not sure if I totally agree with Duffy about Selena being the favorite to win. Audrina has experience on her side and the only thing that she really, really needs is to win this championship after being passed aside for so long. If her huge lead does not tell you that her fans are fed up after all those years of falling short, then I don't know what does. For Selena, getting here at a time when no one singled her out as the odds-on favorite to make the finals for the AFC, might turn out to be something that's way over her head. For Audrina, it's expected that she makes it here. For her, this is right where she should be. For that, that's why I feel that Audrina is favored to win, even if slightly. Selena is the underdog, and I'm pulling for the underdog to win.

This year's finals has a very different feel to it because of the unpredictability factor of Selena Gomez, and because all the usual faces are not in the finals this year like a Candice Swanepoel or a Marisa Miller. It feels fresh and new to have some new girls trying to get a taste of what it's like to be a champion.

My vote went to Audrina. Her feet are always in top condition, she looks great in her pictures, and the ones where she's at the shoe shop trying on different pairs is her way of telling us that she speaks our language. Great way to appeal to us. Also very touching was the picture in one of her galleries in where she's showing her love for that puppy. Kind of brings me back to National's description of her in the Tale of the Tape in how Audrina has "charm beauty and has the ability to warm hearts and love unconditionally."

I remember the match Audrina had with Carmen Electra earlier this year. That match was bitter sweet for me because while my Carmen Electra lost that match, it was one of the greatest matches we have ever seen. A match I'll never forget. Audrina has what it takes to endure tough situations in matches that become hectic. I think Audrina will teach Selena a lesson. That lesson will be a learning curve for Selena, a lesson that she can use to better herself in the future. But for now, Audrina is going to show Selena a thing or two on how to mature into complete womanhood.

Audrina has been nothing but a great person throughout the years. It's about time she gets rewarded for that.

I was also surprised to see Audrina in front of Selena by a lot of votes, but I was glad she was ahead by that many. Seeing how Selena has been as of late, I don't want her anywhere near Audrina. I am getting a bit concerned now that Selena is starting to get a little closer to her. My favorite girl in here is Victoria Justice, but I want to give Audrina my respect for giving Victoria a tough time throughout the season, and I want to give Audrina my support now that she's in the finals classic.

Selena's magic ride is going to end here. Audrina is going to be our next champion. If she's able to beat Candice Swanepoel, then she should know how to handle Selena. Selena will have her time some other time. This is Audrina's time.

I would love to have been the shoe salesman at the store to assist Audrina in all the pairs she wants to try on.

I'm hoping for a low turnout only because I feel that more people who vote, the more that the match will favor Selena. Back when Audrina had that pretty good lead, I was going to leave that thought all to myself. But now that the match is little closer, I have to start believing that again.

With this being the Finals Classic, I feel that this match will not be a low turnout because it's the final match of the year, and everyone will want to vote for one last time. Let's hope Audrina can stay in front. [Fingers Crossed]

Do the people really want Justin's Bieber's girlfriend winning the whole contest? I don't that's for sure.

I thought Audrina's pics were super hot with especially her shoe department pics. Yes right now Selena is in the lead but again it's the finals so the match has to be exciting but I feel Audrina will not choke this time and come back to regain the lead and win it all.

Correction: it's Justin Beiber's EX-girlfriend. If my memory is correct, they broke up before this season even began. This could help explain why she's done so much better this year compared to last year. The bad news for Audrina is that she lost whatever huge lead she had. The good news is that she still has a lot of time left to get her lead back before this is all over.

Last week Beiber took time off from his tour to see her on her B-Day and they left her party together. It's more like an on &off relationship [Love]
Anyhow still I feel Audrina will pull it off.

Not sure when they broke up. Like caseman said, it was right before or right around the time the season started. Or maybe well before that, for all I know. That Letterman interview took place back in March, just a few weeks into the season. By that time, it was well known that those two were no longer together. Speaking of that interview, I saw that clip and that part people are talking about. I was laughing so hard that she dissed Justin like that. Even if what she said was not true, just the fact that she can crack a joke like that made him look like a sissy.

Good for her.

Look at how she looks in the Shoe Department pictures. She's made me a believer. The fact that Gomez caught up shows that she's actually serious about winning this. Now the pressure is on Gomez to keep that lead. Don't expect Audrina to take this lying down.

I voted for Selena, but it should come to the surprise of no one if Audrina ends up winning this. Whoever wins this, deserves it.

I guess you can call it that. It was also reported yesterday that she's definitely single and that she's enjoying it.

http://www.usmagazine.com/celebrity-news/news/selena-gomez-talks-justin-bieber-we-enjoy-each-others-company-every-now-and-then-201318

We could hear something different in a couple of weeks about how they saw each other and all that other BS. That's how ex-couples usually are. But the point is, they're not together like they once were. If she's enjoying being single, it's definitely showing in her results in this contest.

If I were Selena's manager, I would tell her not to take Audrina for granted because she's not a quitter. When a veteran like Audrina is still looking for her first title, and she's that close to getting it, she's going to become very desperate. Selena has a very small lead, and I'm not comfortable with that.

I hope you're right. Audrina will have to get back to work because I don't like the fact that Selena has somehow taken the lead away from her.

Now this has become very interesting.

HOLY SHIT, WHAT A TURN OF EVENTS!!!

Audrina has not only re-taken the lead, but she has really given it to Selena! A ten point lead as of this writing. This time, that lead is going to mean a lot more than the one before it because now we have less time left on the clock and this has to make Selena feel devastated. Now Selena has got to work extra hard to get back in control. But at this point in the match, that seems less likely. I don't see Audrina blowing another lead like that again.

I'm starting to feel it, everyone! Audrina's championship is getting closer to being worn on her feet. New shoes for the right girl and the right pair of feet.

I still can't believe this. Selena caught up and Audrina put her right back to where she started: way behind. This time, time is not on Selena's side.

I don't know why I'm surprised. I mean I knew that Audrina would take the lead eventually, but I never knew that she would come back THIS strong. I thought that if she were to take the lead over Selena, that it would be by a small amount of votes, like 3 or 4. We have about 22 hours before we crown a new champion, and now I'm more afraid that Selena won't win it. Like you said, the biggest thing now is that Selena is running out of time. I'm devastated by what just happened here.

If Audrina keeps that kind of lead after the next twelve hours, then anyone who wants Selena to win is going to really panic.

SALVATORE FERRAGAMO

The Hollywood to which I came in the spring of 1923 was still little more than a village in the sun. The studios were few and, compared with their future, modest in size and budgets. There was a scattering of palatial homes- Harold Llyod's, Mary Pickford's, Barbara La Marr's Pola Negri's, Rudolph Valentino's, Charlie Chaplin's- in which magnificent parties could be thrown; the majority of the remainder had neither the size nor the facilities for the large- entertainments soon to became so familiar. On the surface of the Hollywood of 1923 there was a good deal of substance in my brothers' contention that there was an insufficient population to support our repair shop and little hope for my future in custom-made shoes, particularly considering the limitation of my output. When I left Hollywood in 1927- never to return, as it happened, except as a visitor – all was changed. The studios were larger, more magnificent, wealthier. Some of the concentration of capital has already taken place.

(Shoemaker of Dreams. The autobiography of Salvatore Ferragamo, London 1957)

--

Salvatore Ferragamo had been one of the pioneers of fashion made in Italy. for the shoemaker fashion and culture have always been linked. Ferragamo began making shoes for Hollywood stars for both on and off the set, in California in the 1920s.

The shoe after all is perhaps the most famous of fetish objects. And if the shoe is a fetish, what could be more sexy than shoes made for legendary stars as Rita Hayworth, Sofia Loren, Audrey Hepburn, Ingrid Bergman, Ava Gardner, Katherine Hepburn, Marlene Dietrich, and Bette Davis?

Salvatore Ferragamo was born in 1898 in Bonito, near Naples, Italy. He was one of the most influential footwear designers of the 20th century, providing Hollywood's glitterati with unique hand-made designs and spawning an emporium of luxury consumer goods for men and women, with stores in some of the most important cities of the world.

After making his first pair of shoes at age nine, for her sister to wear on her confirmation, young Salvatore decided that he had found his calling. After studying shoemaking in Naples for a year, Ferragamo opened a small store based in his parent's home.

In 1914, Salvatore emigrated to Boston, where one of his brothers worked in a cowboy boot factory. After a brief stint at the factory, Salvatore convinced his brothers to move to California, first Santa Barbara then Hollywood. It was here that Ferragamo found success, initially opening a shop for repair and made-to-measure shoes, which soon became prized items among celebrities of the day, leading to a long period of designing footwear for the cinema. For more than 30 years he shod the whole galaxy, from Lillian Gish in the first silent films to Marilyn Monroe in the Seven Year Itch. Greta Garbo purchased 70 pairs of shoes in one visit to the shop in Florence. One of his most celebrated pieces are Dorothy's ruby slippers for the 1939 version of The Wizard of Oz.

After spending thirteen years in the United States, Ferragamo returned to Italy in 1927, this time settling in Florence. In 1929 Ferragamo opened a workshop in the Via Manelli, concentrating his efforts in experimenting with design, applying for patents for ornamental and utility models and some related inventions.

Forced to file for bankruptcy in 1933 due to bad management and economic pressures, Ferragamo nonetheless expanded his operation during the 1950 to a workforce of around 700 expert artisans that produced 350 pairs of hand-made shoes a day. By 1936, he was using materials other than leather, such as needlepoint, lace, hemp, cellophane, raffia, cork - he even tried fishskin. Left above is the 1947 "Invisible" shoe made with nylon thread and on the right is the 1938 sandal with gold kid straps and platform sole.

In 1949, he got married and he and his wife had six children. They followed in their father's footsteps and today the house of Ferragamo is bigger than Salvatore could ever imagine. In 1952 Salvatore got the idea that his heels would last longer if made of steel, and so he fitted some to try out. They were a great success and he called them by the Italian name Stiletto. Ferragamo was always recognized as a visionary, and his designs ranged from the strikingly bizarre object d'art to the traditionally elegant, often serving as the main inspiration to other footwear designers of his time and beyond.

Salvatore Ferragamo died in 1960 at the age of 62, but his name lives on as an international company, which has expanded its operations to include luxury shoes, bags, eye-wear, silk accessories, watches, perfumes and a ready to wear clothing line.

The Makings of a Woman's Shoe

As we get closer to crowning a new champion, I have a special clip to share with everyone that shows the exercise a craftsman must go through in order to put together a fantastic pair of women's shoes. While this is not the exact shoe that's up for grabs in the Finals Classic, this gives you the idea of what the preparations are like to put together the shoes that will be presented to its eventual champion. This clip will get you to appreciate the art of shoe making. Anyone with a shoe fetish will greatly enjoy this clip.

Will the shoes be worn on Audrina's or Selena's feet?

Now Audrina is up by 13 votes again. This is looking worse and worse for Selena. Audrina is going to get more votes along the way. Selena is going to have to work way herder to get to her. But we're running out of time and running out of voters. It's starting to look like that Audrina is going to be our new champion.

This was such an incredible match to watch from beginning to end. Selena Gomez is champion, and what a great feeling that is. I cannot believe that Audrina blew two huge leads. Audrina lost by two, but that does not tell the whole story. The story was that she had two huge leads and lost both of them. I don't think I've ever seen anything like this before, but I'll let National do the talking when he gets the chance.

Selena wins the shoes, and I could not be any happier. Unbelievable.

Looks like Audrina is never going to catch a break. I was one of the later voters so I didn't see the first huge lead she blew. However, I was there to see the second one. And if she, in fact, lost both leads by large amounts, then this is the saddest match Audrina has ever been a part of.

I don't know what else to think or say because I'm in a state of disbelief.

The people wanted Selena to win so badly that they helped her dig out of two deficits that no one else would've gotten out of.

I'll let all the Selena supporters have their moment in time and let them celebrate their time of Selena Gomez being the top girl of this contest.

Audrina was up by more than that at one point. I cannot believe that Selena actually caught up both times to get the best of Audrina. Selena really wanted this. If that's not how a TRUE champion performs when the time calls for it, then I don't know what does.

Like Caseman, that was one of the most memorable matches of all time. It was truly spectacular.

Can you believe that Selena is our new Goddess? I certainly can't. However, I'm sure glad that Selena is now part of a very special group in National's contest.

Thanks for another great season. You're the man. [Thumbs Up]

WTF how did it happen, not once but twice Audrina has blown it in the finals. That's it I'm done with this contest......

The Finals Classic has truly lived up to its name this year. This match between Audrina Patridge and Selena Gomez was a classic in every sense of the word. A lot of people did not foresee that this would be an epic, but this match turned out to be what was arguably the Greatest Match of All Time. There are a number of great matches in history, but this match will definitely be ranked on a lot of people's Top 3.

For Audrina, you think about the way her season started going 10-0. Then she started to lose grasp of her whereabouts when she lost to Kate Upton in Week 12 by 17 votes, before finishing the season with 12 wins. Audrina enters the playoffs with a mission to right all of the wrongs by doing what she was supposed to do and making her second half of the season a distant memory. By advancing to the finals, people forgave her for finishing her season 2-4 after that 10-0 start.

For Audrina, some of those wins during the regular season were captivating. Wins over Kim Kardashian, Carmen Electra, Candice Swanepoel were steps towards a direction that any terrible spirits that were haunting her were finally gone. I began to believe that that was her best shot of having the world right there for her to master.

For Audrina, winning the championship was going to be something that would cure all of her ills that plagued her in the past that prevented her from going as far as she wanted to go. Winning that championship was going to solve everything.

Then we get to the Finals Classic. Forget about that 17-point loss she suffered at the hands of Kate Upton because despite the fact that Audrina lost this time by two votes, the way this match unfolded and unraveled over the course of time, this match will go down as Audrina's worse and most embarrassing loss of her career. I'll even go as far as to say that so bad was this loss, so inconsistent was her performance, that this will probably by the only match that I'll remember Audrina by. This match will be infamously synonymous with Audrina's career because that match has now become the poison and the dark cloud that hangs over her head that has overshadowed everything else she has done, whether it be bad or good.

In sports, any noteworthy athlete will have a game or match or a stretch of time that people will always remember him by, whether it be an amazing accomplishment or something that resulted in controversy. While there was nothing controversial about this match, it was the same match that will stick with people's minds for a long time to come because it was the Finals Classics, because the Ferragamos was on the line, because she lost to an unlikely candidate to even make the finals in the first place who stuck lightning in a bottle. If that match was very close from beginning to end, and Audrina still lost, then that'll be one thing. It would've been a tough break, but it still would've been one thing. THIS, however, was not a tough break. Instead, it was the probably the biggest collapse I've ever seen in my life.

What if I told you before the match that Audrina would have two huge leads in this match: one lead by 13 votes and the other lead by nearly TWENTY (17 votes, to be exact); not only that, that 17-vote lead would be towards the end of the voting period, AND that the biggest lead Selena Gomez would EVER have in this match would be by three votes ... what would you say were Audrina's chances of actually losing that match? Zero percent, right? Well, guess what? ALL OF THAT HAPPENED!

This match marked the first time in history that someone had not one, but TWO different leads of ten or more votes in the same match. Why Audrina chose this match as to the one time to squander both of those leads is something I will never understand even if she laid it down in Laymen's Terms.

I do not know where Audrina goes from here. Now when people look at her, the one thing they can't help but think about is her loss she just suffered. For someone who I had so much promise for, it has become a shame for how this has all ended for her. She'll be back next season. But I'm not sure if her peers will look at her as the National Class Champion when that time comes.

SMALLEST WINNER, BIGGEST HEART
For Selena Gomez, this match will be the one that will define her career. This match will have the opposite effect on her than it will on Audrina. This match featured the elements that made Selena Gomez a winner that everyone will remember:

- Commitment
- Courage
- Discipline
- Leadership
- Luck
- Perseverance
- Strength
- Heart
- Knowledge
- Trust
- Ingenuity
- Karma

She was committed to complete her mission of being the top girl in this contest once she realized she was actually in the finals. She showed courage for not being intimidated by a powerhouse in a David vs. Goliath type of match. She showed discipline, she never panicked too much to the point where she gave up. As the World Champion, she is now the leader of her clubhouse, people will grow to respect her.

Some aspects of her win has to do with luck, let's not forget that. Perseverance for grinding it out through the thickest portions of the match when all signs pointed to an Audrina win. She showed strength throughout the entire playoffs by out-muscling her opponents, showing us that we took her for granted. She has the knowledge on hot to out-class her opponents, her victories leading into the finals instilled trust in her fans that she can weather the storm.

With karma, she got back at Audrina with those two huge comebacks. With heart, it is now made of Gold.

This win will forever be linked with Selena. No one will remember any of the other wins she's had.

Usually, I would give the entire schedule that the champion had to go through that year in order to win the championship. Selena will be made as an exception because her season does not qualify or quantify who she is or what she has now become. Instead, it's her Masterpiece that she displayed in the Finals that truly encapsulates the heart that beats in her that tells us what a wonderful she has grown into and how she will change in the future.

THE GLASS SLIPPER CEREMONIES
Selena Gomez is now the youngest champion to put on a pair of the Salvatore Ferragamo's for the first time. Whereas previous women from the past had to put on very nice shoes made from Ferragamo, Selena Gomez, for her unlikely and unexpected rise to the top, will be given the Glass Slipper version of the Ferragamos. So rare are these slippers, that this is something we have never seen before, and something we may never see again as part of a coronation. If it does happen again, at least you'll know who wore it first.

Our Cinderella has realized her dreams, her quests realized, her challenges overcome. Ferragamo, as Prince Charming, carefully slipped her foot inside each glass slipper. Selena Gomez is now Majestic. The other women looking on are either happy for her or anything but. For the latter group of women, they are her stepmother and stepsisters who are not happy because the slippers were not fit for them.

From unjust oppression to triumphant reward, Selena Gomez now bares the title of World's Sexiest Feet.

----

For what has started out as a very memorable season, it has finished in a way that is going to live through the ages. This finals was a classic because it featured a Cinderella going up against someone who wants to become a historic figure in the Fashionistas. This was a classic that not a lot of people saw coming. This was one of those matches that if I placed in the middle of the card of a WrestleMania or a UFC event, this would be the match that stole the show. The reason I said 'middle of the card' is because of the dark horse factor that Selena brought to the table. She was not looked at as a heavyweight. Depending on who you talk to, she was a lightweight who was moving into the middleweight division.

Off all the Finals that were classic, this was arguably the best one as someone who's looking at this from a neutral or unbiased standpoint. For Audrina and her fans, they're stunned in disbelief. This is the match that will mark her career and will be a haunted curse for the rest of her time here until she can find a way of winning a championship before her career here is done. For Selena and her fans, it feels like a fresh new day. This match will be her calling card for the rest of her life.

Thanks to everyone who has been supportive of this contest. I've been very thankful of you guys ever since I started doing this way back when. It's always a sad time to see everyone go and not have fun in here anymore. But at the same time, a new champion will be celebrated. A New Champion of the World.

THE END
