Everyone likes feet. Well, maybe not everyone, but most people. When someone tells me that they don't, that they think feet are gross, icky, ugly, I simply don't believe them. When I look at how much time other women use on pedis and painting their nails, how much money they spend on shoes and toe rings, tiny tattoos to draw the eye, pantyhose and stockings - all with one purpose: to advertise their pretty little feet. They know instinctively what seems obvious to me: everyone likes feet...
Why wouldn't you? What is prettier than a neat set of painted nails, gleaming gems to be desired, opal and topaz and ruby and emerald? What is more inviting than a pretty line of toes, flexing back, splaying out? How many of you could resist the sight of a wrinkled sole or a gentle arch? How much would you want to touch it, to tickle it, to lick it, to kiss it? How many of you crave the touch of another on your own feet? That first kiss from a lover's lips, the first warm touch of her tongue, her mouth closing around your toes...
I think the majority of people just see feet as being feet and nothing more, the same way many people view their hands. They don't necessarily like nor detest them either. Not much thought goes into viewing them as being objects of lust for others.
Having a phobia for or irrational fear of them though I do think can be just as abnormal, if not even more so in my opinion, than having an extreme fetish for them.

I think you might be overstating things a bit. While foot fetishism is by far the most common fetish, there are plenty of folks that don't give their own feet (or others') a second thought, and just think of them as purely utilitarian.

I'm mostly being fanciful, with no small amount of wishful thinking. Foot lovin' lesbians are a rare breed indeed after all, forgive me for indulging!
But I do think an asthetic appreciation of feet is more widespread than given credit for. Not quite boobs or bums level, but people seem to appreciate a pretty foot more than stated. Quite a different thing to a fetish though, which seems to me to be more focused, all consuming...

My sentiments also. I think people sometimes tend to conflate it being the most common type of fetish with meaning it's common in general.

With all due respect, I think this is way beyond wishful thinking. As previously stated, most people don't give feet a second thought.
For instance, there are people out there that have an armpit fetish. I'm willing to bet that somewhere out there is a forum dedicated to armpits, and within that forum someone likely posted similar to what you have, that might read this way:

The line "everybody likes feet", incidentally, is from an old Family Guy episode. Quagmire pilfers a woman's shoe out of her bag, takes a deep sniff, then hands it to Chris for a sniff. Chris says, "I don't think I like feet as much as you do." Quagmire replies, "Hey everybody likes feet!"

Not really, apologies if I gave that impression.
I genuinely think that more people are attracted to feet than will admit, significantly so - and I know only too well how much time, effort and money female friends spend on their feet - possibly following an instinctual awareness that others view that part of the body in a sexual way - while anecdotal evidence of straight girlfriends suggests a widespread prevalence of foot fetish in the males they date. And how many porn films sneak in a bit of foot fun?
What amuses me is that liking feet is seen as weird, while liking boobs, butts or legs is seen as normal. I never really understood that. Society seems to look down on the humble foot lover, while simultaneously encouraging a billion dollar shoe industry, or endless moisturising, pedicures and all the rest.
The Family Guy reference just struck me as apt. Almost as if Quagmire could see through the BS. But really it's probably, as others have stated, that someone in a forest can often not see the wood for the trees. What I think is feet is part of the body and you have to start some where when you are attracted to someone. Actually, I am a leg man and fortunately a woman legs are attach to her feet and some women feet & her wrinkled soles turn me on. And yes, I like boobs, big butts too, somehow I started looking at a woman shoes size, how the shoe make her legs look especially when they wear pumps, mules and some sandal high heels shoes. I love big feet size 9 and up, wide, lots of wrinkles, high arch.
