So this is something I don't personally recall seeing posted here.
I think it's axiomatic at this point that the majority of foot guys prefer soles. Myself being included. So to ask something that requires a little more of a thought process behind it and more of an in depth answer than simply responding to a question like "what's your favorite.....?", what is it about soles in particular that you like?
For me, it's because they tend to be the softest part of the foot, and I think they have more detail and expression than the tops to where I find them more interesting to look at when it comes to looking at a gal's feet. For me, the only thing of interest about the tops are the toenails. But the soles to me have a separate personality per se of their own. There's a lot more detail and aesthetics to look at and observe on them, such as the amount of wrinkles, lines and creases, the way they wrinkle up when the toes scrunch/curl, the shape of the toe pads, the length of the toes, how long the toe stems are, the lines in the toe stems, etc. They also tend to be the most sensitive and ticklish part of the feet, some more so than others. And of course, for those who are into smell, the side that it generally emanates from.

They do have more detail and expression they are also of a different texture then most skin on the body.They also of different tones me personally I love the rosy red soles with milky white arches deep with wrinkles...... yum.

You pretty much summed it up for me. Soles are the best for many reasons. The texture, colors, shapes and curves, more taste and smell due to sweat gland locations, etc. There's nearly too much to name.
I do like toes and they have a time and place for me. Soles are my go to with feet 99% of the time.

soles are everything to me, from the wrinkles, the arches and the heel! I love looking/ asking for toe spreads and just diving my face right in! just seeing all those side wrinkles appear. it's a huge tease for me!

You make a good point really that the nails are the interesting part about the tops I can't ever recall kissing/licking the top of a girl's feet, besides sucking her toes. But you can bet I lick every damn inch of her soles haha!

Yes nice soft soles are a real weakness. Toes too though. Nothing like polished toes.

no pedicure can make bad toes look good, you either have nice toes or you don't
any girl can have nice looking soles with proper care

i stronqly disaqree with the last part. there are many celebrities who took qood care of their feet, and still don't have nice soles. not need to mention their names if you know what i mean.

Good post that only foot lovers can understand. Plus the same pair of soles look different from different angles. My favorite is the straight-on view while crossed at the ankles. Even then there are different looks—toes arched back, and scrunched forward. Then there's side-by, with all toes scrunched forward. Then there's the straight-on side view, with arches down. So much to take in! This is my absolute favorite, wife's meaty 7s in this position!
I'm a sole lover, too. Well mostly underneath the toes with the soles being a super-close second.
But one thing I noticed as a foot sniffer: most videos that show foot sniffing favors sniffing *on top of* the foot (essentially sniffing the toenails), and I always wondered wtf is up with that. I *think* its to kill two birds with one stone: show sniffing, while giving a clear POV view of the soles. So you can imagine yourself sniffing the soles, I guess? But, it would be sexier to me seeing the soles sniffed, not looking at un-sniffed soles while toenails are getting sniffed.
This is prevalent in a LOT of foot sniffing vids, and I've noticed that if it begins with foot sniffing and then switches to foot LICKING NOW we get a good and decent view of the person licking the sole. Its frustrating since that's not my fetish (I don't like feet wet from water or saliva, barely even from foot sweat itself), but I imagine this is heaven for those who do and also like soles.

I've also wondered about what it is about soles that is so appealing. I mean I know what I like about soles and which aspects or kinds turn me on. Yet, I was strictly a 'tops, toes, and arches' guy when I began exploring my fetish, that is, after years of suppressing it. I began exploring my attraction to feet at age 19, yet I gradually got into soles and sniffing by age 22 or 23 (give or take). Before that, I didn't "get" it. Now, these things are the crux of my fetish, which themselves are at the center of my sexuality (alongside or slightly over BDSM).

Yeah, in the early stages of my affinity for female feet, tops are what I liked the most as well. I'm not really sure at what point that transitioned to soles.
