Anybody listen to music as they post on here? I do, it's pretty much a requirement when I get home from work...turn on the computer, turn on the stereo, log-in...it's clockwork...

So the question is, if you're listening to anything, what is it? CD? Tape? Vinyl? The radio?

I'm listening to Rammstein's "Herzeleid" CD at the moment, and just finished a Misfits bootleg CD called "Beware and the Rest". I'm probably going to throw in some Mighty Mighty Bosstones "Devil's Night Out" after this finishes up...

I'm a musician by trade, so there's always some kind of audio pumping over here when I'm using the computer. However, the unfortunate reality for me is that I'm typically so caught up in projects that I'm working on that I don't have as much time to listen to other people's music as I used to back when I was in school. So most of my time is spent listening to playback of tracks that I'm currently working on, but every now and then I'll steal a break and throw on some favorites. Tonight's lucky song is Filter's "Take A Picture".

My vote goes to none other than their 1986 thrash metal masterpiece, Reign In Blood. Sure it's the cliché choice, but it's just so damn good! hehe

CD's that are rotating in my CD player are:

Mos Def- Black on Both Sides
Def Leppard- The Vault
Metallica- Ride the Lightning
Blackalicious- NIA
Talib Kweli- Quality

I am one of the few true underground rap/80's rock fanatics...

I like Show No Mercy and Hell Awaits best.

You mentioned you like Love and Rockets, I also like some goth type stuff too. Sisters of Mercy, and Fields of the Nefelim are really good.

As for what I'm listening to at the moment though, is a band called I.C.E.

These are in a regular rotation

Ozzy - Tribute

Edguy - Hellfire Club (The song "Lavatory Love Machine" rocks!)

Guns N Roses - Live (83 - 97 or whatever the fuck its called)

ACDC - Ballbreaker

Black Label Society - Sonic Brew

I think I am the definition of diversity. I regularly listen to everything from Mozart to NIN with a little Rolling Stones, Alan Jackson, Alice in Chains, and Outkast in between. If I had to pick a favorite type of music, however, I think it would be Seattle grunge.

Lamb of God - Ashes of the Wake

Atreyu - The Curse

Metallica - ReLoad( stragely I only like their 90's hits)

Anything Symphony X

Dance Dance Revolution mixes. Heh.

Those who know KROCK knows that it's the "good music alternative"... so I have been deprived of good music. I guess i'm a non-pop rock fan. Anything anyone would think would be good for my preferences of music?

Posted by 21ToeSucker (Member # 3187) on :

Since you like Symphony X and some of the heavier shit I'd say check out the following:

Iced Earth - Something Wicked This Way Comes
Edguy - Hellfire Club
Avantasia - Metal Opera (Vol. 1 and 2)
Dream Evil - Book Of Heavy Metal
Yngwie Malmsteen - Trilogy Suite and Facing The Animal
Megadeth - Youthanasia
Helloween - Walls Of Jericho, Master Of The Rings, Keeper of The Seven Keys Pt 1 (and pt 2), The Dark Ride
Black Label Society - 1919 Eternal, Sonic Brew, Alcohol Fueled Brew-tality, Blessed Hellride, Stronger Than Death
Shadows Fall - Whatever the new cd is...
Nocturnal Rites - New World Messiah

Shit... I'm sure I'll think of more later

Posted by DJ (Member # 1698) on :

I have been starting to like Shadows Fall more and more.

My lineup today while I work is:

Metallica- Live Shit Mexico City (disc 3)

Cheap Trick - Silver

ZZ Top- Greatest Hits One

Misfit's - 1950's Project

A little diversity for the day!

I'm an ecclectic listener, I could put in The Cramps, or Vivaldi, or Wagner, or some live Grateful Dead bootleg, or Led Zep, or The Pixies, or The Minutemen, or Outkast, or Frank Zappa, or that Michael Nesmith album (solo) from the mid-70's after the monkees lost it, or The beatles, Hank Williams Sr., bluegrass, Max Creek, or whatever...
Dislikes: Flogging Molly, Wham!, ANYTHING involving Steve Perry, (Journey,)(refer to the Parker and Stone movie: Baseketball for the "Steve Perry psych-out",)any Metallica after Master of Puppets, any Pink Floyd after Dark Side of The Moon,(includes all David Gilmour's solo shlock,) disco, formula rock-alt-pop-rap-country.
Anything Eric Clapton did after the Layla sessions, quitting cocaine was the WORST thing he ever did, he should have OD'd, then been immortalized, lol. Now he's just an old douche in jeans playing shlock-blues.
I like pretty much anything that is ORIGINAL, HEARTFELT, REAL, and fresh. Fresh when it came out, that is... Oh yeah, I like the Sugar Cubes, before Bjork got all artsy and gay with the pooched-out pseudo-jazz orchestral noise crap. (I think she's the only one who gets it...)
Gives it to us raw and wriggling!!!
So, I'm picky, but tasteful.

metallica "black album"
rammstein "mutter"

Hey Wrinklesguy, if you like Metheny and Pastorius, have you ever checked out Miroslav Vitous (who was Weather Report's first bassist) or John Abercrombie? Both have several good albums out on the ECM label, and you MUST check out Vitous' 1972 album, Mountain In the Clouds. This features such still-young fire-breathers as John McLaughlin, Jack DeJohnette, and Herbie Hancock.

Also, here's a website you may dig: http://kosmigroov.org
