Since the other thread is solely for videogame discussion, I felt like opening this thread up to see what kind of games everyone is into (seeing as Wu's is also full of gamers. Maybe theres some connection to feet and games...?) So, 5 Favorite games ever? Heres mine:

1. Legend of Zelda: The Ocarina of Time
Just a sweet game...
2. Metroid Prime
Metroid in 3-D. Cant go wrong.
3. Super Mario Bros. 3
Remember the raccoon tail?? God bless that raccoon tail. And the frog suit. And the raccoon suit. And the Power P that let you fly indefinitely. And the Whistle...this could take a while.
4. Halo
Halo 2 cant touch this...the pistol has my vote as the best gun ever in a videogame.
5. Ninja Gaiden/Knights of the Old Republic (tie)
One game had a lot of depth, the other just made me feel like a badass every 5 seconds. Honestly now, a huge dragon emerges from a lava pit, and Ryu stares him in the face and just slides his sword out from behind him...

Runners Up:
Super Mario Kart, Super Mario 64, Super Mario World, Legend of Zelda: Link to the Past, Chrono Trigger, Goldeneye, Harvest Moon 64, Soul Calibur 2, Gran Turismo, 1080 Snowboarding

Interested to see everyones...this goes for ANY system EVER.

4. No One Lives Forever (1 or 2)
5. Unreal Tournament (2004 best in series)

Ooooooh man, just ask an impossible question next time mystik! [Laugh]

Hmmm, only five...well, it's gonna be difficult to say the least, but here's a stab at it...

5. Ikaruga (Game Cube) Devil's Crush (Turbo Duo) [tie]
4. Puyo Puyo 2 (any format) Magical Drop III (Neo Geo)[tie]
3. King of Fighters '98 (Neo Geo)
2. Metal Slug 3 (Neo Geo)
1. Lords of Thunder (Turbo Duo)

Wind Waker, P.S.O., or any other RPG didn't make it to the top five because I'm taking replay into account. The games listed are games I'm perpetually playing all the time. RPG's, and platformers, as much as I like them, tend to be "when I'm in the mood" kinds of games for me. Basically, give me good shooters, puzzle games, and 2D fighting games and I'll stay addicted to them. (oh, and video pinball games too).

Hey Lou, just out of curiosity, why'd you choose '98 as your favorite from the series? I'm sure you've got pretty good reasons. I love the whole KoF series much as you do, but my favorite would probably have to be '99 due to the background & scenery art more than anything else. I mean let's face it, the gameplay itself is pretty damn similar in all of them with the possible exception of '03 which introduced the triple power bar tag-team system into the series. Honestly the reason I'm asking the question is because I love the passionate way that you talk about the games you're into, and I know that reading your answer will make me want to go put '98 on tonight and play into the wee hours.

P.S. - Still hacking away at Flink, and having a good time doing it.

Well, granted I haven't played 2001, 2002, and 2003 in-depth, but out of '94-2000, '98 is the winner, and my favorite fighting game.

The main reason is the character selection. I don't think any other KOF has the selection that this one does...I mean, it was the game that brought back the underdogs everybody loved to hate; Team USA (yeah, you can't get much more stereo-typical than with these guys) but to me they kick ass...you had different playing versions of characters you already like such as '94-style Kyo and '94-style Terry, not to mention the ability to play as Omega version of Rugal...Mature and Vice made a comeback in this game, and they're a very interesting pair of psychotic babes...the Elders Team were great too (Heidern and Takuma, two major powerhouses)... the backgrounds were excellent (the wharf for Team USA cycling through to the morning fog is a work of artistic brilliance, not to mention the stage on the boat too)...the music was great...the character portraits looked the best in this installment...if only Geese Howard were in it, this game would probably have been moved up to my number 2 slot of all-time faves.

To me, the KOF series just got better and better with each installment as I geeked on the series from 1994 on up to 1998, then '99 came along, and a few things dropped off. The music and atmosphere got darker, some characters were cut...Not saying '99 is a bad game by any means, but to me the magic had reached a total climax in '98, and honestly I don't think they could've improved on what was already the perfect fighting game. I've got '99 and 2000 on home cart, and they're beautiful games, I don't regret buying them a bit, but like I say '98 will be the ultimate champ of that series in my book. [Smile]

Still playing Flink huh? Cool. [Thumbs Up] I gave it a serious playing Saturday...didn't get any further than I've already been before...I need some serious practice! [Big Grin]

Very cool, bro. That was exactly the kind of detailed review I was counting on. There were basically two things that disappointed me about '98:

1) The scenery didn't change from one round to the next nearly as impressively as '99 with regard to time of day, weather conditions, etc.

2) It didn't feature the Striker system that was introduced in '99 and became standard canon thereafter.

However, on behalf of '98 I'll point out that '99 didn't have Shermie, who I personally consider to have the best legs in the damn series. hehe [Big Grin]

Having said all that, I'll have you know that I did indeed throw '98 on and play a quick game after reading your reply. I don't know if there's such a profession as "motivational gamer", but if there is, it's got your name written all over it.

Of all time? Well let's see.

1. Earthbound (SNES)
2. Dragon Warrior III (NES, GBC)
3. Final Fantasy Tactics (PS1)
4. Zelda : Ocarina of Time (N64)
5. Harvest Moon 64 (N64, the bad translation made it even more fun!)

Runners Up : Metroid Prime 1, The other Harvest Moon games, Final Fantasy 3j, Super Mario Bros. 3, Super Smash Broos. Melee, Just about every other Zelda game.
My Top 3 Games of 2004

1. Baten Kaitos : Eternal Wings and the Lost Ocean (GC)
2. Pikmin 2 (GC)
3. Metroid Prime 2 (GC)

One may think my taste in Games is Juvinille. But I love a challenge, and I love putting my mind to the test. [Roll Eyes] And yeah... i'm basically 95% Nintendo

Yeah Calli, those were coin-ops alright. Mystik never specified that they had to be home console games so I figured I'd get away with it. hehe Besides, it'd be damn near impossible for me to come up with a list of my Top 5 home console games of all-time because each platform's graphics & memory capabilities were so different from one another. It just wouldn't seem right to have Adventure for the Atari 2600 compete against Mario Kart 64 for the N64. I love 'em both dearly, but they're not even playing in the same ballpark. I suppose I could come up with Top 5 lists for each system that came out over the last 30 years, but I'm not sure y'all would like to sit and read through those. hehe

I thought you were going bring up Qbert or Frogger next. [Big Grin]

I got my first console (NES) when I was about 11. Some of my favorites were:

Mike Tyson's Punch Out
Tecmo Bowl
Super Mario Brothers (1,2,3)
Contra
Double Dragon II
Castlevania

Oh yeah, you're definitely touching on some of that system's classics there, Wu. The NES also had some fantastic translations of arcade titles which were superior in gameplay & graphics to any of their other home console incarnations that came before it, with ColecoVision trailing closely behind. The following leap to mind: Donkey Kong, Donkey Kong Jr., Burgertime, Elevator Action, Commando, Arkanoid, Gradius, Popeye, and really so many others. I definitely give a whole lotta credit to the NES for pushing the limits of what could be accomplished with 8-bit graphics.

You bet your sweet butt it does, Calli! The C64 is definitely one of the systems that I'm the most sentimental about. I still play those games regularly, and that's a lotta games! While it wasn't my first system, it was definitely the system that I credit with expanding my creative horizons and blowing the doors of possibility open moreso than any other. It was the first system that truly engaged my mind in addition to my eyes & reflexes, and simply put, it was the first system that enchanted me. All sorts of wonderful memories, feelings and moments are stored in that 64 frickin' K of onboard ram. Here's to Jack Tramiel and all the folks who made the Commodore a reality!

You bet, Callista. My brother still has our C64, along with all the games on those big-ass floppies. The only problem is that all of the joysticks for that computer are broken in one way or another. There were some fun games on there, though.

Sweet! Just earlier today I was playing Ultra Vortek on the Jaguar, which was basically Beyond Games' attempt at Mortal Kombat. It's cute stuff. hehe The Jaguar will of course always be remembered as one of the most controversial and ill-fated game consoles ever made, and Atari's final foray into the world of home video gaming.

P.S. - The Ultra Vortek cartidge is currently on eBay listed at $0.99 LOL...

Oh, just admit it...you're simply fascinated with the downpour stage in '99. That one single stage has skewed your judgement! [Laugh] [Thumbs Up]

Thanks for the kind words about my "mini review". I've actually written a few video game reviews and worked on video game web sites before. If I can get with my Bro that's got the original pages of some of that material and have them put back up, I'll be glad to provide you with some links. I've wrote reviews on Magical Drop II, Air Zonk, King of the Monsters, Fatal Fury 3, and even managed to interview (now retired) foot model Nina Collins about video games.

It was a mixed bag doing all of that stuff. Here I wrote these reviews, did artwork, and sank a lot of time and energy into my Brother's site (called Fan Scene), and which he did too, and the one thing that drew the most attention out of it all, or so it seemed, was the Nina interview! Go figure...post some yummy pics of a gorgeous babe, and all of a sudden everybody was like "what video games?!" [Big Grin]

LOL, you're damn right it has! I'd never seen anything quite like it. To be technical about it, it was actually the scene that immediately precedes the full downpour. You know the one I mean - where they skies are overcast, the winds have begun to pick up and you can see the visible traces of precipitation in the air. I remember having to stop playing when I saw that screen for the first time and thinking to myself, "Damn, that's almost too beautiful to be in a video game." I still think it is.

I understand completely. The Neo Geo provided a whole lot of moments like that for me. I can remember pausing certain games just to sit and gawk at all the details in certain scenes...I've even got out a clipboard and quickly sketched some of those kinds of scenes, and would later try to emulate them in my art. Especially cool, when you think about it, is the fact that the Neo Geo didn't have all the graphic bells and whistles some systems had...no transparency, no light-sourcing, no anti-aliasing, and yet the programmers made that system pull off things it supposedly wasn't capable of doing...

It's a real shame that the system died with a whimper, and didn't go out with a bang like it should've done...but still, they've got a 10 year+ legacy of games that'll live on forever in the hearts and minds of gamers everywhere...it was a unique kind of gaming experience...and one I don't think the world will ever see again.

Wow, some gamers here eh? My top 5 are:

World Heroes Perfect(sega saturn)
F-Zero GX(gamecube)
Magical Drop 3(sega saturn & Super Puzzle Fighter
Tech Romancer(dreamcast)
ALL King Of Fighters series. '94, '95, '98, '00, and KOF Maximum Impact are my best ones.

Now, if were talking overall best games we like to play then:

All that I mentioned above
SNK vs. CAPCOM: Chaos
Fighters' History Dynamite
Mario Kart: Double Dash
Naruto: GNT3
Project Justice
MARVEL vs. CAPCOM 2
CAPCOM vs. SNK 2
Rage Of The Dragons
Asuka 120% Burning Fest Limited

Those are just some of the games that I love to play competively.

You've got good taste in fighter games, Mistress Pedrianna! I love just about all the ones you mentioned. I'd been waiting a while to see the SNK characters face off against the Capcom posse, so SNK vs. CAPCOM: Chaos is definitely one of my favorites from your list. Besides, how could I not love a game whose opening scene is in the "Nude Place"? hehe

SNK vs. Capcom: Chaos? I'm sure I included that one in your NeoGeo package, Lou. Lemme know when you get that bad boy up and running! And who is Red Armourer? That name is totally not ringing a bell with me. Incidentally the only thing I didn't like about Chaos was that there weren't enough characters to choose from to suit my tastes. I guess games like KoF 2001 spoiled me by offering a ton of characters to choose from.

Okay, I need to correct myself...Red Armourer is just one of the names of the red gargoyle demon that's appeared in all the Ghouls and Ghosts games from Capcom...he goes by the name Fire Brand in Demon's Crest and SNK vs Capcom: Chaos, so sorry for the confusion. Anyway, do you know how he plays? He get some justice in his fighting game debut?

Yes, Bro, you included that game, and I sincerely thank you for it, but I can't get a Neo emulator to run on this computer...not yet anyway, and I've tried two different ones. [Cry] I'll keep trying though. [Thumbs Up]

Reading this post made me think of what I've been up to here lately...I'm digging out all my Hong Kong comics of KOF and SNK vs Capcom. Can't read the damn things, but the art is really fantastic...courtesy of Andy Seto. [Cool]

It's kinda' sad how all these great 2D fighters have taken a back seat lately to other genres... [Cry]

I couldn't agree more. That's why I keep the torch burning for those old games by running them constantly over here. I'm not anti-technology by any stretch, and I'd be the first to admit that many of the modern games look very cool. (Okay, maybe not the first. hehe) But given the choice I'd always take those older games over them. Not only did I find the gameplay better, but there was something about the 2D sprites that I find cozy, personal, and charming in a way that the newer generation of 3D polygon-based stuff simply cannot accomplish. Who knows, maybe 20 years from now I'll be singing the praises of the 3D stuff. But for now, Ryu shall continue to shout "Hadoken!" and whip Guile's ass as I play Street Fighter II into the night.

[Cheers]

Very well said my Bro. I too am not "against technology", but there's a certain charm and appeal in the classic 2D stuff that these new games just can't capture.

I'll tell you a great way to see it too...just play a game of King of Fighters (your choice of which year), then play a game of Tekken (which ever number you prefer). Sure, Tekken has all the camera swoops and angles and all that, but look at the characters. The KOF ones are literally OOZING personality...the Tekken ones strike me as robots, as cool as some of them look, their moves look too mechanical. KOF characters even change facial expressions for crying outloud!

And like you point out, the gameplay seemed so much better in the 2D games. That's not to say that there aren't any fun 3D games with that solid 2D feel (Wario World instantly comes to mind), but when I sit down to play a game, I want a challenge...I want to get my reflexes tested...I want to be forced to think and stay two moves ahead...and it seems like games of this calibur are becoming more and more rare...

Do arcade games count?

If not, my video game picks would be:

Counterstrike
Starcraft
Bop 'n Rumble
Redneck Rampage
1942

As far as arcade games, in case anybody's interested:

Heavy Barrel
Golden Axe
X-Men
Pit Fighter
Bad Dudes

Posted by Calico Jack (Member # 2299) on :

Damn Tweener, how are you able to tolerate Pit Fighter for any extended stretch of time? hehe For those who aren't familiar with it, Pit Fighter was basically one of the significant predecessors to Mortal Kombat, albeit nowhere near as responsive. It was Atari's 1990 attempt to make a fighting game which was the first arcade game to use digitized photographs of actual actors taken using a green screen technique instead of hand-drawn graphics. The game bombed pretty badly though and many of the cabinets were revamped into into Street Fighter 2 - The World Warriors machines by arcade owners with conversion kits. I suppose from a historical point of view I can totally see the charm in Pit Fighter.

I liked Pit Fighter even though there were some flaws with it... especially when it was "the new thing". It was definitely useful in spawning games like Mortal Kombat and Time Killers. As the ancient Greek philosopher, Testicles (pronounced "Test-uh-kleez") once said, "Man must first have Pong and Pac-Man before he can have Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas and Halo 2".

3. Starcraft (PC)
4. Grand Theft Auto 3, Vice City, or San Andreas (PS2)

5. Ages Of Despair (not a "video game"...it's a text-based game thats online. www.agesofdespair.net)

Has anyone seen those $60 arcade sized controllers for Street Fighter 2's 15th Anniversary? I saw them in EB Games today. Cool, but not sure it would be worth getting for any other reason than to say, look how cool they look.

It'd be wasted on me anyway, Patrick. I've been playing Street Fighter II and all of those types of fighter games with a keyboard for so many years now that I'd completely suck if I were using anything else. I've conditioned my fingers to be able to respond to all the special combo moves and such things using the key layout of a standard 101-key computer keyboard, so any other type of controller would leave me in the dust. That became all too clear to me one day a couple of years ago when I popped into the arcade on 42nd Street and tried my hand at Mortal Kombat. It wasn't pretty.

I just thought I'd applaud that list, hott3028. Those are all definitely games that I'd consider to be right up there among the very best ever made.

Wow, you surprised me with that one. I haven't really heard anybody ever discuss the 5200 as anything other than a marketing failure. I've got a sentimental place in my heart for it myself, so I was happy to see you give it some credit. When it boils right down to it, the whole horrific reputation that the 5200 came to acquire had everything to do with a very foolish executive decision to release the system to the public prematurely despite the fact that the controllers for it didn't work very well at all. Enough people hated the controllers that they returned the system and Atari lost plenty on it. Graphically though, the 5200 was definitely a major step forward for Atari's foray into 8-bit gaming and some of those games were actually a lot of fun to play! Pac-Man actually looked like Pac-Man, as opposed to what it looked like on the 2600. I love both of those systems very much and still play them regularly. Very cool to see them both make your list.

P.S. - What was your favorite game on the 5200? I'm in the mood to play something now. hehe

Wow CJ, You never meet alot of 5200 fans! When it came to graphics, it blew away Coleco and Intelevision. I agree about them releasing it too early (perhaps at the height of 2600's popularity).

I actually ended up selling the 5200 because they just didn't have enough games, plus like you said Atari's controlers sucked. I purchased an Atari 800XL computer after that, bad move, should've gotten the Commodore 64.

Like you said the arcade games replicated the arcades pretty well and i probably had every one of them. But the best game I ever played on the Atari 5200 was Miner 2049'er, a space age mining game with a Mario Bros./Donkey Kong twist. Many levels to it for it's day.

I half agree with that comment. I think the 5200 was definitely light years ahead of Intellivision with regard to graphics, but IMHO Colecovision buried all of its competition at the time. No other home console was able to mimic the arcade experience at home as successfully as the Colecovision did in 1983. It was virtually unstoppable until something came along two years later called Nintendo Entertainment System. You know how the rest of the story goes. hehe

Oh yeah, I'm very familiar with that one. I remember being in North Carolina the first time I ever played that game back in the early 1980s and it was in fact on a 5200. I'm gonna fire that one up tonight just for you!

Hell yeah hott, Tempest is an all-time fave of mine as well. I got Tempest 2000 on my Saturn, and love it to no end. The bonus rounds they put in it don't make a lot of sense, but otherwise it's a great duplication of a true classic...even has classic Tempest as an option on there, which comes in real handy for nostalgia's sake. [Smile]

I don't have the Saturn, but I've got Tempest 2000 on the Jaguar and it's way cool! I'm a big fan of the original with all its vector goodness, but it was real nice to see a remake which made the original proud.

Did the Jaguar version have bonus rounds where you guided a cross-hair through rings? The music during the bonus rounds was really cool, very ambient and gave you a feeling of being lost deep in space, floating through nebula's, but like I say it didn't have squat to do with the game.

Hmm, I'm not sure about the bonus rounds, haven't noticed any of those despite advancing thru a load of different screens. I'm not sure if the Saturn version has the same options (I'd suspect it does), but the Jaguar version offers you the option to play either Tempest Traditional, Tempest Plus, Tempest 2000, or Tempest Duel. I'm assuming that the bonus rounds you're talking about take place in "2000" mode, but so far I haven't noticed them.

I had Tempest 2000 for the PS1 and it was one of my favorites, one of the best new interpretations on a classic. And Lou, you are right, the music was awesome! Another good update that is long overdue would be Zaxxon. I dont think that game has been updated, but it's long overdue. (Unless you count the Sega Master System's "Zaxxon 3D" that you had to have 3D Sega Scope to play)

I fired up Zaxxon 3D last night and gave it a whirl, hott. Cool game! It immediately struck me as a cross between the original Zaxxon and Buck Rogers: Planet of Zoom for the Colecovision, which of course was another game made by Sega. Zaxxon 3D combined elements of both of those games and I thought it was a decent little gaming experience for an 8-bit console like the Master System.

But still no newer Zaxxon title. Speaking of Coleco, I loved thae controller it had for the baseball game and a few others.

Yeah, the in-game music aside from the bonus rounds was great too. I've put that Saturn CD in other CD players just to listen to the music at times. Good stuff! [Thumbs Up]

Zaxxon would make for an interesting new kind of upgrade game. You ever get to play Super Zaxxon? I never did, but I remember thinking it was so cool that you fought a dragon as a boss on it when I saw it on that old game show Starcade. [Big Grin]

Speaking of new games to old titles, and Sega here, has anybody heard whether or not Harrier World is going to get finished, or is it going to get talked about forever? Or is it finished and I missed the boat? Space Harrier is an all-time classic game, and I'm curious to see what they could do with that premise...

STARCADE! I used to love that show, they should show the reruns of that on G4techTV.

Posted by Lou Gojira (Member # 983) on :

They should, but they won't...G4 blows in my personal opinion...no offense if you like the channel. [Cool]

Oh yeah, Starcade was the show! Jeff Tell told more lame jokes than should be allowed in one person's lifetime, but that show was so much fun to watch. You remember when they started dedicating an entire show to one game at a time? For instance, they had a show where all the contestants played was Dragon's Lair, and another show where all they played was Track and Field, and another one where all they played was Cliff Hanger. I really strutted my nerdiness come question time, I always got them right! I used to cuss the contestants for occasionally missing them... [Big Grin]

Oh yeah, speaking of G4TechTV, am I the only one here who would like to take that Tommy guy off the show Judgement Day out to a field somewhere and commence to beating the living shit out of him for several hours on end? That little self-absorbed prick really annoys the hell out of me...that jackass bombed Metal Slug 3! Metal Slug 3! One of the greatest games of all time, and that stupidass dissed it because the graphics are sprite-based...

It's bad enough there's idiots like him in this hobby, but when somebody puts a microphone in front of him and has him believing that his opinion really matters...no forgiveness for that. [Mad]

Of course, I'm saying his opinion doesn't matter, and yet I let his opinion of Metal Slug 3 unnerve me... [Roll Eyes] [Laugh]

I'm not familiar with G4TechTV or Tommy, but if he trashed Metal Slug 3 solely on the basis of it being sprite-based, I'd say he's officially earned his place in the Idiot's Hall of Fame. Metal Slug 3 was a phenomenal accomplishment, and there's a reason why it's considered to be the best of the series. I'm not going to sit here and bash 3D graphics the way he knocks sprites, because there have certainly been major achievements in modern gaming graphics platforms which are very worthy of accolades. But on a personal level, I'd take Metal Slug 3 over just about anything in the polygon-based realm.

All the girls on G4techTV are real slutty chicks that they "nerd up" a little. Ocasionally you see some of that Megan chick's feet. She is really hot, and has some huge titties.

Amen and AMEN Brother CJ! I agree with everything you just said!
[Cheers]

Don't waste your time finding out about Tommy if you don't know about him already. He's just some snotty little narcissistic fart stain that thinks his shit doesn't stink. For that matter, he bombed Viewtiful Joe on the GameCube because of the title of the game! "What the hell is 'Viewtiful'?!" he said... [Roll Eyes] A few minutes of watching this idiot and it's obvious that he's got a serious case of "Little Man's Disease". [Evil Grin]

P.S. - Does anybody else find it ironic that Final Fantasy is a series which currently has 12 installments thus far? Not very final, is it? hehe [Big Grin]

Yes, twelve "Final" fantasies by now... i kinda hated the ones on current generation consoles.....

Lou,

You have to take Tommy for what he is, the color commentator, per se. You always have to have one guy who is knows the stuff and one guy who runs his mouth. Otherwise you get two people agreeing all the time. It is like half of the ex-NFL players they get to do football commentation.

And if I remember reading right, I think both those guys on that show are the writers themselves. They probably stick themselves on there for self promotion.

Good points Patrick. I think I let those years of reading the Diehard Gamefan magazines shape my opinion on how video games could or should be commented on. You ever read that magazine? There were times when the guys didn't agree on a certain game, but the times they did, they were able to all agree and still keep it interesting and fun to read.

Of course, maybe the guys on Judgement Day like to take more polar opposite views, more sensationalism brewed up that way...I don't know.

Still, I can't help but think there are going to be a lot of X-Box owners missing out on a stellar good time of a great game in Metal Slug 3, and it's all because of Tommy...then again if they're that easily swayed, perhaps it's better that the lemmings among us stay away from quality products...leave the hardcore to the hardcore gamers, not codes junkies who get bored of a game in a matter of days...

Hey Lou,

I just got Tekken 5. I wasn't sure whether to get that or Star Wars Republic Commando. Being my Xbox is on the fritz, I went with Tekken. Yeah, I know they recalled the cable, but it is a little too late since my power switch seems to have gone up months before. And since my dumbass opened the Xbox up (no small task!!!), I don't think I can get it repaired. Just my luck.

[Eek!] Oh crap, that's tough there Patrick... [Confused]

Hmmm, have you tried going online to find people who work on and mod XBox's? Your warranty may not cover your XBox since you popped it open, but if you can find somebody who does that kind of work it may be a blessing in disguise. Think about it: get it fixed, then while it's getting fixed, have it modded. Two words for that after its done-> ARCADE EMULATION! You can play certain arcade games that never got home releases if you've got the right mod in your XBox. Just download the roms of the games, burn them onto CD, then pop the CD into your XBox. At that rate, you could quadruple your game collection in a matter of weeks! [Thumbs Up]

How is Tekken 5? I personally never got into Tekken a whole lot until part 3 came out, but then lost interest in it once Tekken Tag and 4 came along. Does 5 get it more back to the way 3 played? I'm under the impression that there's people out there hoping for just that...

Posted by Patrick (Member # 1169) on :

Lou,

Tekken 3 kicked ass, but Tekken Tag was my favorite. Tekken 4 tried some new things with gameplay and had a limited character roster with not a lot of unlockables. Tekken 5, however, goes back to the Tekken 3 and Tag gameplay and has a whole slew of extras. There is a mini adventure/action game, Tekken 1, 2 and 3 arcade games and means of buying items to customize all the characters. And the graphics are some of the best for a fighter. You can certainly tell NAMCO did both Soul Caliber 2 and Tekken. The thing is though, do all these 3D fighters have to have similar stages/arena? Everyone has a roof top, everyone has a garden, a temple, factory... so on and so on! Shit, I say have them fight in a bar! It would be more original and something not in all the other games. [Smile]

Both of those Judgment Day guys are prickfaces.

I've been playing that Soul Calibur 2 alot lately because I found a bunch of cool cheats.

That Tekken 5 looks awesome, but they dont have it for Xbox. I dont have Republic Commando, but Star Wars Battlefront rocks.

Hott,

I played the crap out of my Soul Caliber 2, but I got my for my Gamecube because Link is a pimp! [Smile] PS2 has Hieachi (spelling?) from Tekken and the Xbox version had Spawn... I wanted Link, so that is the one I got.

I just went back to EB today and picked up Republic Commando. After a few hours of playing it tonight I am going on the record and saying this game kicks some ass. If you like Halo or Halo 2, you'll have no problem with this game. It is even neater in some aspects because you control party members too — doing things like computer overrides, breaching doors, etc. And the interface is VERY easy. A+ in my book.
