I've had a couple of Firebirds when I was younger.

The '79 Firebird. I bought this at the age of 16 and totalled it only 2 months later! Sorry about this picture. Its the only photo of the car I have and its a polaroid taken 20+ years ago! [Laugh]
 -

My '88 TransAm GTA. The "money pit" car. I put as much money into maintaining that car as I did for the actual price of the thing. I held on to it until about '99 when I traded it in on a family friendly SUV.

haha! And thanks for the compliment. Hopefully over this coming summer I'll catch some ladies with it...hey maybe I should start a foot site and have them model inside like Ben has for a lot of his photos? Course I'd have to grow some bigger balls to get the ladies to do this [Cool] lol

ledaemon - Nice cars man! That sucks about the 1979. How did you total it? And did I read this right?... "I held on to it until about '99 when I traded it in on a family friendly SUV." Family SUV over GTA?! [Eek!] [Big Grin] lol

Wrinklesguy - Truck looking good! Glad to see you were using it for what they are made for! lol. And heck 13's are definatly nice for a big truck like that. Since you said old truck though, that mean you got rid of it? And thanks for the wheel compliment! I have not had mine on a dyno or raced it yet, but the times I've seen from other owners are anywhere from high 13's to low 14's stock.

Another Dodge/Cummins fan here...
This is a pic of my Honey's christmas present... a Quad-cab diesel 4x4.
It's got most of the factory options and it's 'chipped', so it's a nice rig & pretty zippy, but basically just stock. Has an awesome 6 spkr Bose stereo... that's what I'm jealous about! LoL

I wrecked it doing typical teenage stupidity. I was driving about 60 around a curve where the speed limit was 20 (school zone of all things.) I lost control of the car, plowed through an old mans front yard and BLAMMO!!!! smacked into a telephone pole. Luckily I was the only idiot in the car as every window except the one by my head was smashed, the roof was caved in on the passenger side, and even the passenger seat was ripped from the floor!

The GTA was fun for a while, but it was actually the worst car I've ever owned. Too many mechanical problems and replacement parts were always expensive.

Ouch that doesn't sound too good. That's too bad you didnt get to enjoy that first car a little more. And I'll agree with you in that parts for these things are expensive. Thankfully I haven't had to do much of that yet.

Another nice truck there sleddogg. That's a hell of a Christmas present! She shouldn't be able to complain to you at all for the year [Thumbs Up] lol

Man, I know what you mean Ledaemon. My dad and I have an '87 GTA that rarely gets driven. Its always plaguing us with little problems. Its a hell of a car, though. Wish I had a picture of it - It's white with about 35,000 miles on it. I LOVE the F-bodies - especially the 2nd and 3rd generation. I wish they'd bring 'em back. [Confused] Oh well... Here are my other prizes:

2005 WRX - stock until the warranty is up
 -

-and-

'81 Ford F100 with a souped up 351 Windsor and the loudest exhaust system (exhaust cutouts) in the neighborhood.
 -

BTW - Nice T/A rockbass [Thumbs Up]

Man I guess the GTA's are pretty darn popular! lol. I very rarely see any around my parts.

Nice vehicles there Wing-Washer. I hear those Subarus are pretty darn quick! That sucks about not being able to do much with it until after the warranty, but it's definatly a smart thing to wait on just incase. How long do you have to wait? I'm sure they have pretty good warranties. And thanks for the car compliment!

Posted by Wing-Washer (Member # 3013) on :

There don't seem to be many GTA's or IROC-Zs around anywhere anymore. [Cry]

Yeah, the WRX is pretty quick - especially for its practicality. If I had more experience working on import cars, I'd go crazy with it regardless of the warranty (3yrs/36,000 miles). However, I've mainly worked on small block V-8's. Several of my friends have Acuras and Subarus, though, and between now and 36,000 miles, I'm going to learn everything I can about imports - especially Subarus because I hate relying on mechanics. Ok y'all. Here we go. Introducing my 1996 Dodge Viper RT/10. My baby. http://photobucket.com/albums/d163/veteater/

Nice Viper bro! I always wanted one of those when I was younger, but I have came to the realization I'll probably never have one due to the price tag haha

Posted by veteater (Member # 3602) on :

Actually, if you know about the cars, you can get a decent one (older) at an alright price. It sure is a piece of work...Gets attention from everyone.

Posted by rockbass (Member # 6012) on :

Yeah I suppose you probably can get an older one pretty decently. However I'm sure parts and service for them aren't cheap though right?

I can definatly see why it gets attention. They definatly aren't cars you see everyday and they are very unique looking!

Posted by veteater (Member # 3602) on :

Actually, the Viper is one of those cars that you can do work on by yourself, or at least in your own home if you were to stop [Jerkoff] to the foot fetish stuff on the site. Maintenance on the car is cheap if you do it yourself. Its easy to do work on it because it is a very old and basic design. Girls love it, guys love it, Vette guys frown when they see it. It's a loud little car and its the only one in my area, so I am stalked and have papparazzi following me all the time. I was getting a drink for someone at a McD's drive-thru. The person at the window asked if I'd do a quick burnout as I left. No cars behind me, but two big lines of rubber.

Hey VETEATER..I bet you my truck would hand your Snake it's lunch bag at the drag strip.. [Wink] [Nana] what kind of times do you run?Hey don't let Malory see your screename she'll never let you see her toes lol [Laugh]

I am currently running 10.82 at 135mph. The car weighs 3250lbs, and puts out 531 hp at the rear wheels. Used to have a 1995 ZR-1

Posted by Wrinklesguy (Member # 732) on :

dang got me beat i guess...i'm at 11.77@119mph with a 1.60 60-ft. time..and it's a diesel..i believe with a big shot of bottle we're close =P

You're running funny air? Oh well......I am currently upping the power in the car. I'll be flyin' high in 9s territory.....9.5@155mph is my goal. Currently, I can lay down a big patch of rubber on a 4-5 upshift. It's scary fast. But my licence plate gained points with the officers...SRYOFICR

So you ever take it to the track. Isn't it that anything under I believe 11 or maybe 10 needs a rollbar?

And sleddogg you're crazy if you go 180 on a bike lol. I think I'd piss me pants captain [Laugh]

All they ask is that I have the hardtop in place, secured and that I have 5 point harnesses in the car.

Right now, I can't take it out but in the spring, there will be some new features...New interior, side-exit exhaust, and some other stuff. No nitrous or F/I. I want to keep it as N/A as I can...Not aiming for a street rocket, just some fun. even with the stock 3.07s for gearing, it's brutal. It's a heavy gas pedal, so if you don't give it much, it's quite a docile machine. Lay your foot into it and HOLD ON and make sure the front wheels are straight. Vipers have a tendancy to swap sides in the blink of an eye. You really have to know how to control the car, and know what you're doing.

Many people have gone for rides (kids, adults etc) and their first reactions are "this is gonna be fast and aggressive." I pull away politely, off a side street, drive politely in the city, as if it was just another car. They are amazed at how much of a sleeper (Viper+sleeper=contridiction) it is, in that it's a tame vehicle when you want it to. As soon as a highway ramp is finished, I just drop a gear, give'er a fair amount of gas and she's off, spinning tires and the passenger generally doesn't know what hit them. Local officers have gone for rides with me, and are impressed with its ability to shock and awe...Instant rockstar status. I mean sure, it's extremely loud and lumpy at idle, and very loud when puttering around in the city, but it's just reminding you that there's 10 cylinders under the hood, and the exhaust (no mufflers with hi-flo cats) under your butt. If you are ever out and see a Viper with its owner, speak to them, ask what its like. Generally, snake owners are very obliging when it comes to little thrill rides. There is no other car out there with the style of the Viper.

Corvettes: Malory, you will love me lol. I used to have a black ZR-1 as a first sports car. At the time, the Viper was always a rarity and scarce, like today. I managed to get a Corvette ZR-1 with the LT5 motor, 6speed, and digital readout. It was a fun car, but it looks like every other Corvette out there. When people saw it, they'd just say "nice car" or "what a stuck up prick." The only way you could tell the ZR-1, was the little "ZR-1" badges. Other than that, it was a Vette, just like you see 5 of everyday. The Viper on the other hand...I am friends with the owners in my area. I've never seen so many cameras and convos about a car before. You should hear some of the convos I've had with people that think they know more about the car yet the owner knows the car. Some of the questions are funny as hell. Glad you all like the Viper. BTW, any good free asian foot sites let me know!
