I'm sick of China and all the crappy goods that we import from them all the way from deadly dogfood Rover just ate to your shit particle board laminate computer desk and of course the lead paint kiddie toys your toddler is chewing on.

The game is simple. Just right from where you are sitting try and pick up 10 different items made within the past 5 years and see if you can get all 10 without one being made in China.

I already lost when I first turned over my HP computer mouse and the old "made in China" label was on the bottom of it. Its a real eye opener!

Amen LD! I just watched a good documentary tonight about "corporate corruption". Not just here in U.S. But rest of world. Mainly U.S. though. Micheal Moore has a small part in it. It's called "The Corporation" or "Corporations" is the movied title. It's good! Blockbuster should have it. Have a good one! : ) [Fingers Crossed]

It sad that there seems to be almost "0" manufactured goods 100% Made in the USA or your other respective countries. And don't even waste your time going through your closet in your bedroom. You may not always find a "Made in China" label, but I'm sure some 8 year old in a South American sweat shop put together your blue jeans for ya!

Hmmm my shoes K-Swiss sneaks... Made in China!

If you really want to start another rant call your tech service number for your computer. I guarantee you the guy calling himself "George" on the line with the thick Indian accent isn't talking to you from an office in downtown London, England. Aside from outsourcing that here in the states they do the same with even your X-rays. Your X-rays are shot at the office and then electronically sent to be examined overseas to a medical center in India where then they reply with their findings to your doctor! Fucking amazing.

Another game will be how many hours of your life have you wasted on the phone to tech support trying to get past the language barrier and multiple disconnections.

Not to mention the fact they technically OWN the U.S. right now bailing our wonderful gov't out of debt.God forbid they want their money back in full all of a sudden..

Posted by FootLongSub Zero (Member # 19380) on :

Then you wonder how the country got rich in the first place... Cheap labour and Cheap material... Smart move.. (I'm not a china or chinese hater though) ...Ummmmmm except maybe only in traffic [Laugh] Just kiddin' [Tongue]

Chinese Chocolate Has A Wriggly Surprise
http://news.sky.com/skynews/article/0,,91059-1282049,00.html

 -

Chocolate munchers in South Korea were horrified to discover worms and moths crawling out of their favourite confectionery.
Customers made the gruesome discovery when unwrapping the Chinese-manufactured chocolates, which imitate a popular international chocolate brand.

Mouth-watering chocolatesThe worms and moths were found crawling out of tiny holes in the chocolate when the consumers opened the foil wrappers.

The bugs had even managed to eat several chocolate balls.

Professor Ahn Young-chul, of Eulji University, said: "It seems to be seriously contaminated during the manufacturing process since the larvae of Plodia Interpun were found."

One consumer, who bought the chocolate during a trip to China, said the manufacturers had insisted he go back to China with the chocolate if he wanted compensation.

Lee Nam-hee, researcher for consumer rights, said: "There can be a sort of argument with the consumers about whether these worms appeared during the manufacturing process."

The fear is that the Chinese-made chocolates will add to concerns over goods manufactured in China.

Toothpaste, sweets, tyres and medicine exported from China in recent months have been found to be faulty.

However, several consumers have also found worms in a local Korean-made brand of chocolate.

On the upside, virtually all my leather bondage equipment is tooled here in the good ol' U.S. of A. This will be of little help to American soldiers when China withdraws its industrial support out from under us in the years to come - unless we expect to restrain a billion prisoners.

I'll keep this from going into the politics section by simply concluding that the Amish (a lot of them are around here) are truly industrious and productive but can they hammer together a stealth porch-swing which can drop bombs?

My XBOX was made in Can---nah..just fuckin with ya...China.

It occurred to me today, as I was taking more of my doctor-prescribed medications, that they are all manufactured here in America. They are the best and safest medicines in the world. There is some truth in that old chestnut "you get what you pay for."

Just had to come back to mention that.

You're right. I checked my mouse, "made in China". Our steel comes from Japan and India, Tech support from India, clothes and shoes form Taiwan, etc. We've been corporately sold out!! Although we do make a lot of our own cheap furniture domestically, I used to be a long haul trucker and I can't tell you how much particle board I've taken to High Point, N.C.

Sorry for resurfacing this thread but I hope that the Olympic medals aren't made in china [Roll Eyes]

Especially after the commotion of the C.G added fireworks and the lip-synching singer at the Opening Ceremony....

Posted by LeDaemon (Member # 198) on :

Har! Ain't that the truth. And don't forget the addition of those little gymnasts that look to be say 9 to 11 years old...

I read an interesting article about the opening ceremony as well with that big to do with all the soldiers choreographing with that huge scroll. They had to all wear DIAPERS as no one was to leave that formation for over 6 hours even for a tinkle break. China definitely absolutely does not give a rat's ass about the individual.

Posted by FootLongSub Zero (Member # 19380) on :

Yup you got that right about not giving a rat's ass about the individual.... what individual? EXACTLY [Big Grin] ... Also without permission from some of the surrounding residents, they were ordered to move out so they can demolish their house for the new highway to the stadium...

DIAPERS... REALLY? [Eek!] thinking about the whole china olypics surrounding/environment makes me cringe but just gotta keep more focused on the events....

Yeah gymnastics too young....... but sychronized swimming is on tonight [Hop] WHOOPIE!!! [Hop] ... be looking forward to that... fire up the VCR (Don't have a HardDrive DVD player/recorder yet)...At least my VCR isn't made in china [Hump]

Copied from the news for you Cadbury Chocolate lovers. I remember a discussion a while back we had about chocolates and how Cadbury was the best...

Cadbury says Chinese-made chocolate have melamine
Monday, September 29, 2008 9:24 AM EDT
The Associated Press

HONG KONG (AP) — A Cadbury spokesman says preliminary results show its Chinese-made chocolates contain the industrial chemical melamine.

The spokesman said Monday it was too early to say how much melamine the chocolates contained.

He declined to give his name because of company policy.

Cadbury said earlier the tests "cast doubt" on the safety of its Chinese-made products but didn't elaborate.
