Just wondering about opinions...

- if you're just going to go on about it being a dirty habit, bad for you, blah blah blah just don't post.

I'm cool with it. It's nobody elses business and it doesn't affect anyone elses life.

I get a kick outta how there is a "holiday" to smoke it. Congrats you smoke weed, this makes you interesting?

Rolls? I assume you mean a doobie or a marlboro.
After November weed will be legal here in California! [Joint] So fire it up!
I'm cool with cigarettes in public. Some people freak but it's crawling with health nazis out here.

Mate, I was asking about rolled cigarettes as opposed to ones in a pack.

If you are indeed referring to pot, I think it should be kept behind closed doors, similar to alcohol in reference to public intoxication. Not necessarily hidden, just in its proper place, responsibly, away from children, et al.

I'm pro legalization, but anti commercialization. Kinda off topic, but as long as we're on the subject, there's my two cents worth.

No-no not weed - obviously that should be kept as private as you can.

And yeah, I'd agree with pretty much everything you said...

Yeah I heard weed is just open in California - at school I had a boring-ass, officious maths teacher and he told us all about how you just go to a café or whatever in Cali and they'll just come up to you, "Want a coffee? Spliff?" haha

Smoking is just as gross if you roll your smokes or not, it makes no difference to me. I've been a 16 year smoker and I'm a week and a half off them now. The only time I didn't think smoking was gross was the first three years I smoked. You're not allowed to smoke in public places in Vancouver.

Weed is NOT going to be legalized in California, it's going to be be decriminalized and fall under the controlled substance act. Legal age and distribution, possession of anything over an ounce (28.5 grams) will be subject to prosecution for trafficking.

When I was 16 years old a farming accident left me impaled on a two foot telephone pole service spike directly through my L4 disc, narrowly missing my spinal cord. Also, I'm six foot five and always had back issues. Here in British Columbia I have a medical prescription to Marijuana where I am allowed to possess, smoke and grow Marijuana legally due to ongoing spinal issues. Some days I have to smoke a joint to get out of bed. I smoke where I want, whenever I want. However, never in front of kids.

It's currently legal to grow a certain number of plants at home in Cali at the moment isn't it? I've talked to a couple of people from there and apparently there's no notice taken of the kids that smoke weed on the school bus...

Haha! Some reputation we have out here!
Yeah flipflopfan is right. Here's the skinny from alternet.org:
The measure does not actually legalize pot as much as it absolutely decriminalizes certain marijuana offenses. (Marijuana has been “decriminalized” in California since 1975, but it still can generate a fine, an arrest and a misdemeanor charge on your record.) Tax Cannabis institutes a one-ounce personal possession limit and allows for limited personal cultivation.

Interestingly, the ballot initiative refers to local control, meaning that cities and counties can decide whether to allow regulated marijuana sales at all, and if so, how that would work. Tax Cannabis allows for the personal consumption, possession and cultivation of cannabis by any adult over 21 throughout the state, but the business of it would be left to local jurisdictions. (A few people suggested Lee was inspired by his home state of Texas’ dry-county, wet-county policy regarding alcohol sales.)

Cheers to flipflopfan for the correction! [Joint]

smoking rolls? is that slang for muffin tops?

Smoking "rolls" would definitely be less expensive; the only down side that I can see is that someone might think that you're smoking a doob..

When I used to smoke I smoked "rolls" only while at home.

[Cool]

Yeah that's what I'm thinking...

But like...£5.50(ish) for a pack of Amber Leaf (papers included) which would make maybe 80-100 fags.

A 20-deck costs about £5.80(ish), doesn't taste as good and is worse for your health (I know it's not exactly an advert for healthy living but rolls have minimal additives in comparison to a pack).

People immediately going to the thought of weed in this thread are making me reconsider it though...

Well the only people I have seen smoking "rolls" are the younger people(18-22 year olds) and they are just trying to look cool. Not saying that is what would try to do but some people would think you are.

If you look at it economically, the Amber Leaf option is better but then again quitting would save you ten fold [Smile]

Well I don't get what makes it appear "cool" though...? Can you put your finger on why it may appear that way?

I find rolling therapeutic and it requires a fair bit of skill through practise - you REMEMBER the best one you ever made hahaha I can see rolling in public itself may be showing off somewhat, but I'm just talking about smoking them out and about...

When I did my tour through England and France, almost everyone there smoked rolled smokes. They bought these kits that were a pouch of tobacco, papers, and even a pack of filters to roll into the smokes. I'm guessing since the price of petrol there is insane, it's similar to the situation here.

I quit two weeks ago on Monday, I smoked Belmont Mild and they ranged in price from $10.00 - $12.00 CAD.

Who cares if people think it's weed? Considering based on smell, it's obviously not, if anyone thinks it is, they're fucking stupid.

It has nothing to do with "looking cool" at all, it's the fact that it's much more inexpensive. You get a ton of rolls, a bag of tobacco, if I remember correctly(I only smoke on a very light occassion), is about the same price as 4 packs of cigarettes, and if you use it right it's going to save you a lot of money.

The only annoying thing is rolling cigs all the fucking time. Sometimes they don't come out right, sometimes they look like shit, etc etc. I guess you could buy a roller(I think most people do this anyways), they're fairly efficient. You can carry your cigs in a flask, or even a plastic bag.

Hope this helps!

I think here the tax is something like 80%...put it this way: in Spain a pack would rarely cost you more than a couple of pounds, here they're getting on to £6 now...

Plus they recently had a VAT rise of £1 on them (I think it was a certain percentage on everything...or most things anyway), with the ONLY exception of fags (and some alcohol), that extra tax has been taken off everything. Because smokers apparently don't have the same human rights as everyone else...

Oddly enough - a pouch of Amber Leaf (25g) that makes, as near as makes no difference, 100 fags is slightly cheaper than a 20-deck...you have to buy filters, but they cost like £1 for 100.

And my main hang-up is I've been stopped by the police before now and searched coz he reckoned it was weed (saw me rolling at a distance and came up to me).

I carry mine in an old cigarillo tin actually [Tongue] I'd say cigarillo/cigarette tins are the best [Smile]

I don't actually WANT to use a rolling machine lol [Tongue] I like the rolling been doing it for like a year now and takes me no time at all and they're rarely un-smokeable (though it tends to happen if you pack them too thinly - the paper burns, but the baccy doesn't burn with it, so there's a big gaping gap between the lit tobacco and the start of the paper - you can't inhale). Best way to save it is to roll thin.

Though I do pre-roll...getting to a party or a bar or something and realising you have to roll is as appealing as plucking my eyes out sometimes...

Yeah rolling is nice, pre-rolling definitely better, it's so annoying especially at parties, since you just want to go out for a minute and have a smoke.

Nail on the head there, it's all tax. They have been slowly increasing it here. You can go to Mexico and smokes are like $2.

When I started they were around $3.50 a pack, and now they're up to $12 in some places.
