Nope. Those are suggestions.
With Google Instant, the results page actually changes and updates dynamically as you're typing in the search bar.

i don't know what what Google Instant is but that drop down menu is annoying.When i first saw that i would get so annoyed & wondered how to change it to stop it from showing up.I was so happy when i found that option lol

Go to Google.com, at the top, click on Search Settings, and on this page there should be a section for Google Instant. Select "Use Google Instant", then Save Preferences at the bottom, and have fun.
