With the advancement of technology over the past decade in cellphones to smartphones, instant messenger, Skype and what-not. I haven't the need for a phone dedicated landline. I would think yes for a business but for home.......
What do yous think? You think you still need a paid home landline? When was the last time you remember using one? You think it will become obsolete? Any other thoughts?
The only reason I brought it up was because I've heard quite a few radio ads mentioning it in their deals.

I still have it. Landline has better reception than cell phones that's why I still have it.

Haven't had one for years myself. My 80 year old dad still has one along with his cell phone.

Sure do...best reception...doesnt need external energy if the power goes out...no battery...plus having an alarm system...dont trust the wireless alarm systems from.comcast

Yes, I still have a landline. Clarity of the calls is certainly a large factor. Only in the last couple of years have cell phones been usable in my area. With a landline, you don't have to look for a minimum number of "bars" - you just pick up and start dialing.

I do. I'm just coming out of a fucked up satellite internet contract and the only Internet provider available to me has a monopoly on my area. I believe I have to have one in order to get the other

Nope, haven't had a land line for 7 years.

Hmmmm. That's one hell of a good question.
I have a friend who is a contractor; I'll have to ask him what his take on it is. I know he got rid of his hardline.

Have one but don't use it. Comcast charges you more if you don't have one it's ridiculous

I just use my cell for everything. Cost way to much to have a landline through windstream where I live. Cheaper with just tv and internet.
