Let the media tell it, natural disasters only impacts the low-income population.
Natural disasters do not discriminate, but it appeared to do so in New Orleans with Hurricane Katrina. This is how the media spins things. Read this article to see what the media excludes, such as the picture of a late model C300 Mercedes-Benz submerged in flood water.
So who does America's heart go out to more, the immigrant who was $400 away from paying off the home he bought a decade ago, or the man from an immigrant family who lived in a neighborhood with a mean income of $700K when last checked?
Loss is loss, just as death is death. The paradox is why we feel more for certain people more than others. For example, we feel more for a rich family who had a stillborn child than a poor husband and wife, or unmarried couple who had a still born child? Oh. Well, poor people have kids left and right, so it's no big thing if they lose one. Rich people work so long and hard to get where they are. All they want to feel complete is having children. See how I spun that? And without a degree in journalism, psychology, or public relations.
I saw a car parked in front of a convenience store 24 hours to prevent it from being looted. Where is the press for that guy? It's on some Fortune 1000 company location that is still closed due to a power outage.
Let me get off my soapbox. I could stand up there for hours. Millions were impacted by the storm. Florida had the most amount of evacuees ever in its hurricane history. People who fought and scrambled for food, water, and hurricane supplies are now returning them en masse.
Sorry, I got back on my soapbox again. What are your thoughts on this matter?

The narrative means everything when you're attempting to politicize something to advance an ideological agenda. Same reason why global warming was to blame for Harvey and Irma, which then became too lenient of zoning laws were to blame, then building codes were to blame. Utterly sickening in my opinion.
Some powerful photos came from these calamitous disasters, that showed people simply helping people regardless of race, gender, creed, political affiliation, etc. Which is how it should be.
Any sane, rational person would know it's obvious that natural disasters don't discriminate; only kooks seem to have a difficult time grasping this.
