Good stuff. Hard to believe as many girls on the Cali beaches wear boots as I see in your shoots. I would have thought it would be flip flop heaven, especially this time of year. Boots and the beach is a surpising mix.

It is flip-flop season, but I personally prefer and select mostly girls wearing shoes, boots, flats, and heels so that way we get to see their soft pink bare soles before they get dry and sandy.

It's often said that money talks, but with amateur models, they're either flattered to model or wouldn't do it for any amount of money, so money is not really a motivating factor.

It's mostly about who's doing the asking. Of course it helps to be confident, handsome, articulate, and successful whilst trying to convince random women to bare their soles to the world.

On the other hand, many professional models are gold diggers. They're more than happy to pose for any old slob with lots of cash, but I try to avoid those types.

Most of these random Californiabeachfeet girls will never be seen again on any web-site, and especially not on Craigslist or a modeling site.

The only way to meet real women is in person. And so the annual Summer sole safari continues.....

Well I wouldn't exactly say they're lined up to show their soles. Yeah if it were only that easy. There is actually quite a bit of legwork involved, so to speak. It basically involves lots of waiting and wandering around all day in the sun for miles just to find a few of the right girls. Most people quickly tire and grow discouraged, but it's all about the thrill of the hunt.

Ah, the thrill of the hunt indeed. Your words have made me nostalgic for the 90s when I used to go a-hunting. Yes, I remember MILES of walking. Hell to pay if I wore the wrong shoes, and I learned NEVER to forget the sunscreen lip balm. And the danger of dehydration. Remember vomiting in that planter? No, of course not, you're smarter than I was.

As I recall, it's something like 0.72 miles from one end of the Venice Beach boardwalk to the other (?) as I paced it the two or three times I shot there. Back when the girls selling toerings didn't mind when you took pictures of their toes. Try that now, they chase you away, fast. Probably my fault, sorry about that.

I was always shocked on the days I wore a pedometer for footography. Eleven miles here, 18 miles there, seven miles the next time--well, that was a short day, wasn't it?

What I like about your pics is that you capture in so many of these girls a fresh-faced, unjaded, uncynical expression. After 9-11 that look seemed to get more and more rare. But then, as you imply, one brings one's successes with him, and it's undoubtedly your attitude and approach that helps you capture this essence.

Yeah, like the 10 essentials they taught us back in boyscouts. Hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, long sleeve shirt, shorts, sandals, CAMERA, camera BATTERY, lots of memory......
I'm also a hardcore fitness enthusiast and have trained to go on long hunts without food or water breaks (fuel-up beforehand).
Seems like toe ring shops are always frequented by women trying to dress-up ugly feet. Never even asked once. Every once in a great while some girl will say something like OMG are you with that creep with the lazy eye?
Nope, but there are a lot of creeps out there to be sure. It all depends on who's doing the asking. Off to the beach for more.........

Thanks. Well a lot also has to do with the interaction between model and photographer. It's the photographer's responsibility to entertain the the girls above and beyond simply pushing the button, because as a model, it's very difficult to smile on command at an inanimate object. It's not hard to get an expression out of even jaded porn-stars when the topic turns to feet.

Like you say, it's not hard to artfully turn the topic to feet, and before you know it, you've got her feet in your hands for a deluxe footrub. Sometimes they even offer to pay you (!) which they do b/c you're so nice and they want to return a favor, but they don't know they have been doing so for the last hour or so they let you rub their feet.

Sorry, I went off on a weird tangent. Bottom line, what you said; be nice, charming and not creepy, make it a point to truly interact.

Still, the population did get jaded as more and more they encountered the fetish. It seems that now, though, the pendulum is swinging the other way, and this generation of college girls is less cynical.

Then again, the simpler explanation is that I'm full of it. Whee!
