Hey you guys, I need your collective opinions on a new model. I met and interviewed the girl below a couple of years ago, and was really inspired to shoot with her, but at the time, her schedule was impossible. I didn't think that she was all that interested in modeling but she has always kept in touch with me, which I really appreciated. Well, she recently told me she finally has some time to shoot, and we made a booking for next Monday. I sort of had the same issues with Elle Angel and it took a couple of years from the time we met until we finally managed to shoot.
The problem is that I ran her pics through a photographer friend, and he din't seem to like her. The comment is that she almost always has the same expression, in his words: "Bitchy, and like she smells sour milk" "She looks like she would be really difficult to work with, dude"
She does tend to make some funky faces, but she's from Eastern Europe, and I think that's their version of sexy. She reminds me a bit of Dee except that she's considerably taller than Dee (5' 7" to 5' 2") has has higher arches. Truth be told, I can take her or leave her, and the only reason I've been patient with her so long, is that I really like her feet. I'm just fearful my friend will be right and she turns out to a a dud, 'cause I have a couple of really kick-ass models waiting in the wings. What do YOU think?

She looks pretty hot, but I personally think what makes your models so great is the fun attitude that they exude through the pictures. So, if she's a hassle I would say no go. You never see to have much trouble finding hotties anyways.

She was actually really nice when we met, it's my friend who got turned off by the look she projects, and I only brought it up 'cause I happen to have a lot of respect for him as a photographer. I'm more concerned about her looking wooden, not her not being nice to me, I want models that project well, is all.

I think when you first started, you had an Asian neighbor who modeled her feet. I still remember her because she was so hot... and had pretty feet.
Maybe you can teach her to smile more naturally. I think she may be trying to appear sexual and is making the looks that your photographer doesn't like.
I think she's hot!

If you're communication seems to be going good, I'd say go for it. Most of the time comfort level seems to play a huge role in good photos. You can even start by saying you're looking more for a fun, girl next door look, or something so she might refrain from that look. And is it possible that you only had a handful of photos and happened to have all the similar expressions? Girls like different than us guys do half the time, so maybe she liked these the best and sent them to you? Hell, I know all the pics you guys like are most of the ones the models didn't pick as their favorites.

I'd give her at least a chance. She may surprise you and be really nice. Perhaps there was bad chemistry with your friend, or she just had a bad day. Happens to all of us. Anyone that reminds you of Dee is worth a shot right? As always, I am sure that you will make the right decision!

Not being you, I'm not certain what you have to lose by going forward with her, and how doing so would impact your next two models. I'm happy to take your word for that, I don't know the biz.
That said, for every guy who doesn't like the pout, there's a guy who does, so statistically you should come out even on that. Also, she's blonde and that seemingly trumps lots of other factors when it comes to models.
If she's nice to work with why not? If you can make her laugh you could probably capture some good expressions. You can also show her your other models, a majority of who seem to be beaming in their pics.
Not knowing anything about her, I would guess she's doing the pout b/c she's young and trying to contrive a sexy look. As she becomes more sophisticated she will learn to cultivate sexy in more complex ways. You're in a position to facilitate that development on her part.

Dunno if you've done so already - but you could let her see some of your models and express your concerns about her being able to convey those looks. It is a very valid concern though. I've found some VERY experienced models are just LOST when it comes to feet. They just can't make their minds comprehend, even when being given clear and straight forward direction. Or does she have any shots in her portfolio that hint she might be capable of the feel you're looking for?

Well Trini, I did shoot, and where do I begin? I can use the words "train wreck" or "Titanic" to describe yesterday's session, but they would somehow not do justice to the debacle I had to witness.
I pride myself in being a pretty decent country photographer, able to get the best out of even the most difficult models, but I have to admit defeat, and tell you guys that this chick got the best of me yesterday.
I don't see the point in going into all the gruesome details, and I will also say that the girl has really sexy feet, and very high arches, but with all that, I ended cutting the session in half 'cause it quickly became very apparent to me that things were not going to get any better. At such times, it's just best to cut your loses, pack your bags, and hope for better days. There's a sample below, but that set is so below my standards, that I'm seriously considering "eating" the money, and not posting it at all.

Trouble as in posing, or as in like her attitude and such? You're used to dealing with more mainstream models than I am, since I only dab in that market.

Ha... I gotcha. I recently did a shoot with one of my site's popular girls and she was just so overly annoying that it made me wish I had spent the day shooting someone else. I won't name her as she's not a bad person, she just brought her no common sense in spades that day and it was a drag. LOL... I feel your pain.

Well, I can say that she does have some good arches.........But considering what you had to go through, it's best if you just, as you said, cut your losses and move on.

I can relate to the disappointment something similar happened to me in in May. We connected and things were cordial, but the model couldn't pose. So I focused on her feet which were quite nice.
Though her rates were reasonable, I'll skip a second shoot with her.
