I wreckon that since the movie industry is so large now than it was back in the 80s & 90s and also with making movies being easier with newer technologies/software and maybe with the assistance of Piracy,,,, there are a whole lot of SHITTY movies out there in mainstream DVD don't you think???.....

Sorta like instead of there being more good flicks, there are the same amout of good flicks as years ago (if not less) and it's watered down in a whole lot of BULLSHIT......

I'm sick of watching crappy movies.

So........ If you've seen any good movies of late, I'd like to know please [Big Grin]

I'm going to see "True Grit" today.

The main problem with movies today is the overuse of technology rather than just having a good and original story. Everything now is a 3D CGI shitfest for the most part.

A few really good movies I've seen in the past year or so that are on DVD I would recommend:

Book of Eli
Shutter Island
Inception

All are a bit more cerebral and not just nonstop mindless action.

Iīm also looking forward to True Grit.

This is not a new movie (in fact it is from 1992) but I just watched the brilliant "Unforgiven" a couple of days ago. I can highly recommend it!

The pic and audio are very good, thoroughly impressed.

I don't mind when CGI is used to ENHANCE an action or explosive scene as long as it's unoticeable, buuuttttt when it's used excessively that it stands out like a sore thumb, it kills the moment IMO....

Book of Eli 9/10
Shutter Island 7.5/10
Inception 8/10

I've seen these and liked them all [Thumbs Up] ...

Shutter Island in my terms is a mindfucker... Has you second guessing something you were so sure of before hand... In that respect, you should see the movie.....

Triangle 7.5/10 (starring Melissa George, saying that coz there are more than one movie called Triangle or The Triangle)
I think this flick is underrated...

If you liked 'Book Of Eli' then you should like 'Solomon Kane'...

Yes, I also saw Grand Torino ... it was very good.
And I can also recommend "Changeling" (Directed by Clint Eastwood).

I went to watch it in the cinema a couple of years ago (actually, together with one of my foot models [Wink] ) and I hadn`t read anything about it beforehand...and it just blew me away.

I also watched this a while back and was quite surprised at how good it was. Itīs a little slow-paced but I really enjoyed it .. it has a surprising twist at the end and I really like Michael Caine as an actor.

The Fighter starring Mark Wahlberg about the real fighter Mickey Ward. Give it a solid 9 out of 10.

As for comedy, you can't go wrong with Super Troopers! Friggin hilarious! Anything by the the Broken Lizard comedy group is great(Puddle Cruiser,Club Dread,BeerFest) [Big Grin]

The wife got 'Due Date' the other day, and Its a pretty good comedy. Although the concept does mimic Planes, Trains, and Automobiles; which in my opinion is one of John Candys best ever!

i finally got around to watching The Social Network and i actually really liked it. as much as i heard it trashed zuckerberg, i came out liking him more. sure, he 'borrowed' the idea of FB but he took so much further than the original intention.
