And thus, the Evil Empire known as the New York Yankees, known for the last 8 years to sign as many big-name mercenaries with no thought as to how well they'll fit in in New York and ignoring what the team has really needed, has lost their supposed crown jewel acquisition. A-Rod as escaped Steinbrenner's clutches.

As a heartfelt plea from those of us who bleed Dodger Blue, won't you come out to L.A.? You'd still be treated like royalty here and so long as Kobe and Beckham are still out here, you won't be front-page news everyday, nor will you be the subject of practically every tabloid and rag that goes on publication. We here in Los Angeles would greatly appreciate your services, especially considering that our bats have been anemic since Adrian Beltre cashed out to Seattle (and has done jack since). You wouldn't have to put with as many egos as you did with the Yankees (except for Kent, but he's just an ornery son of a bitch) and you'd actually have some great pitching to back you up, so you won't feel compelled to put up record numbers every year and not burn yourself out before the playoffs.

Wouldn't you want the youngsters like Matt Kemp, James Loney, Andre Ethier, and Russell Martin to look up to you? Wouldn't you love to have guys like Brad Penny, Chad Billingsley, Derek Lowe, and (hopefully) Jason Schmidt throwing well on the mound for you? Wouldn't you like to have the reassurance of the reliable Jonathan Broxton and Takashi Saito in the bullpen? Wouldn't you like to have the excuse of playing in pitcher-friendly Dodger Stadium for not putting up your godly numbers every year, instead just settling for stellar? C'mon Alex, you know you'd love it out here. Won't you give Los Angeles (the real Los Angeles, by the way, not those posers down the freeway in Orange County) a chance?

Yours truly, and devoted Dodger fan, Salvy_Mic

Red Sox Nation doesn't want A-Rod in Boston. Do you have any idea how many guys they'd probably have to unload just to make room for his massive contract. They'd completely dismantle what's already a championship team.

We, on the other hand, need a bat like A-Rod. Our offense was so anemic last year it was embarrassing. If he doesn't have that vicious New York media breathing down his neck, plus not as many high-priced mercenaries on the same team expected to win it all every year, A-Rod doesn't have as much pressure and he instantly makes a decent ball team an instant pennant contender. Of course, there's that stigma attached with A-Rod being shitty in the playoffs, but hopefully, maybe this'll be the time when he comes through in the clutch.
