Couldn't help noticing that some on this forum use the word "peds" to mean a girl's feet.
Not that it's anything horrendous... But when I first started seeing that word, it was when I discovered published foot porn (mostly in the form of "Leg Show" magazine, and other specialty magazines of the type you'd find in Times Square in the late '80s and the '90s).
Copy writers for those magazines seemed really fond of the word "peds" when trying to refer to a girl's feet in a "sexy" way. Me, I found the term laughable, and still do.
That's why I was surprised to see it turn up here with such frequency. I guess not everyone found that term as silly as I did. I think I found it silly because I have always loved the actual word "feet" and found no substitute to be necessary; I also found that the "sexy" text accompanying the porn photos was seriously corny, almost as a rule.
What do you think about "peds"?

I know I've probably said "peds" once or twice.
Not sure I see anything wrong with it. But, I can understand that everyone has certain words they dislike.
I know I have a few that don't sound right to my ears.
English is a fascinating language. Heck, linguistics is fascination in general.

I hear ya, pjay. I've used the word in these forums a few times myself, although I don't especially like it. Occasionally, though, I want a synonym when I've already used "feet" several times in the same paragraph. Even so, as a guy who uses the written word professionally, it irks me when I do.
I know it's kitschy to say "peds" -- kind of like referring to a woman's legs as her "gams" or her "pins" -- but I think it's OK in a limited, informal context.
Use the word regularly, though, and it's a mite creepy.

I don't care for the word myself either, and on the same token, tootsies also isn't a word I'm particularly fond of.

I've come to accept it, to like it, in fact. I see nothing wrong with the term. Oh well, diff strokes for diff folks.

I just searched my own section and found 11 offenses!! I do not have an issue with the term - it is merely a synonym for "feet". To each his own I say!

I used to dislike the word "peds," but now I'm fine with it and other terms like "tootsies" for pretty female feet and "dogs" for those that aren't so appealing. Nothing beats "feet" though.

I find it kind of an insider "pet" name, mostly used among those of us with a fascination for feet. I've used it and don't mind it.
Trust me, there's a lot of terms and phrases used on here regularly that I don't particularly care for but so what, big deal, whatever floats people's boats....

LOL!! YES, by all means, I would lump "tootsies" with "peds"...
