I view the female body as a sculpture...a thing of beauty...
Now, say I was standing in front of a piece of art such as the Venus de Milo.
I walk up to the sculpture and with a spray can in my hand I say to myself "You know what? That Alexandros of Antioch, talented guy but this statue would look much better if I drew something on her FOOT (of all places)...here let me give this a shot"
And just like that, I draw something completely arbitrary on her foot like...a rose or...some short-lived phrase that will be illegible ten years from now.
Guess what I just did...I completely defaced and ruined a beautiful, one of kind, piece of art! I ruined the entire sculpture!
Why?
Because now every time you look at the statue where is your eye going to wonder to? That horrible rose I just drew on her foot! Done. It's finished. Ruined.
Ladies...Please...DO NOT GET A TATTOO ON YOUR FOOT! YOU ARE RUING THE ART!

Yes Skaramunga, great analogy. I beg to differ though, in my humble opinion, it's simply body accentuation. The same thing could be said of a beautiful automobile.
And as far as taking attention off of the feet. I will kiss her tattoos if they are on her feet sometimes out of respect to her. Especially if she thought whatever design is on her foot was cool enough in her mind to keep it there for life...
But throughout my worship, I have never been like. Oh your tat is so distracting, I just can't make out with your feet, sorry.
But these are awesome responses. Thanks for all of the thoughts, I appreciate the feedback!

I usually prefer feet that are free of tattoos, but there are a few noteworthy exceptions. ;0) Oh, and I don't have a problem with ladies who choose to ink their tootsies or the guys who dig it. To each his/her own.

Over all I'm not a huge fan. Especially of very large tattoos. However, seeing a girl in public with pretty feet, and then a tattoo that I can't quite see all of, especially if it's a word that I can't read, really makes me want to see all of her foot even more.
Also, I think tattoos on the soles of a woman's feet is so erotic. Probably just for the kink factor. Pics of these are so rare, and think about the pain and commitment it takes to get them there? And who would she expect to ever see/enjoy a tattoo on her soles except for a lover? They just seem very kinky.

yes that would be a trip. I have never seen a girl with a tattoo on her soles. It would be interesting to see what something like that would be or say... I do LOVE cute little moles on the soles. Kinda personalizes the whole thing for me

I agree with my buddy FIASCo, I don't really like tattoos on feet, or tattoos anywhere in fact, but I respect everyone's own taste and preference.

It's never been a deal breaker for me. I once photo'd a girl on the beach with a "Made in Italy" tattoo on her sole. Not like I was going to turn her down. A high percentage of 18-22 year old girls in the LA area have a cute little tattoo here or there to signal that they're edgy and active. In my hunting experience, they're far more likely to be open to baring their feet for the camera than pretty plain-jane types. So acceptance of feet and tattoos sort of go hand in hand. I'm more likely to turn the other cheek at the sight of thunder-thighs.

Great analogy!!
I also say "never try to improve upon nature"..
Since a supreme being may have created man/woman. And man/woman "only thinks" they know how to do stuff..

I like some tattoos on feet. I don't like when the tattoo overwhelms the entire area of the foot. I prefer tattoos on the ankle. Some tattoos on the top of the foot I like, preferably small, yet have seen many that I don't like.
