With the big tour of Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth, and Anthrax playing on the same bill across Europe I was wondering if anyone was catching this? In the US Metallica is not going to be touring with the others though. Planning on catching the Dallas show in September with Slayer co headlining with Megadeth and Anthrax is supporting. Testament is playing in place of Anthrax in the earlier parts of the tour.

My daughter actually wants to go with me on this one since we caught Iron Maiden back a month ago, but this is a whole different monster than a Maiden show and I don't think my teen is ready for this one.

*hand raising.
i, sir, am a metal head from way back. i havent seen a good metal show in ages though. my kids are a little too young.. and my wife has them brainwashed into thinking pop is music. one of the best shows i saw was judas priest's ram it down tour with testament and megadeth opening.. or maybe metallica's justice for all with queensryche opening. anyway.. sounds like an awesome show! i'll have to try and keep an eye open for that tour.

so listening to any more current music?

I would give my left testicle to get to see that show. A few of my buddies are going but neglected to get me a ticket and I think they are all sold out. Sucks to be me.

As for new music I have been listening to "Five Finger Death Punch" and "Avenged Sevenfold". Both kick ass.

Oh, and UP THE IRONS!!

I still go to shows a lot, at least once a month...but those are usually small venues with punk/hardcore/noise bands playing. I´m not into huge shows or festivals.
I do still listen to stuff like Napalm Death, Terrorizer, early Suicidal, early DRI, Prong, Metallica, etc. every once in a while....usually bring`s back the memories.

LD, great that you daughter listens to metal! My daughter likes Tokio Hotel [Confused]

i got you beat Hal. my daughter listens to justin bieber.. then again so does my wife. *sigh.

i actually do listen to some pop and dont mind it, but if i want to really get into some music, it's got to have some crunch to it.

for me, the newer music i listen to includes mastadon, QOTSA (not really metal but good rock), throwdown, static-x, and disturbed.

Yeah Hal my kiddo has a Tokyo Hotel t-shirt in her closet as well. For the Maiden show I still have an original Powerslave tour shirt from '84 stashed away that I gave her so she could wear it to the show. She didn't want any part of that old thing. However once we got to the show and she saw that everyone in the crowd was wearing Maiden shirts especially tons of boys that were there her age she did a 180 degree turn with regret that she didn't wear it!

As far as newer music goes I've been out of the loop for about a decade now. Newest things in my collection are probably Wolfmother's 1st album and Tool's last. I still buy music every so often, but it tends to be mostly from 60s, 70s and 80s. I used to be the go to guy 20+ years ago for music related stuff, but now I don't give much of a rats ass to keep up with anything new and up and coming. Blame it on middle age.

I usually get to one big show a year now although when I was young it was sometimes once a week. I have no desire to jump in a mosh pit either anymore so I'm purposely looking for tickets for seating farther back. My days of leaning on the stage with Oderus Urangus of GWAR beating me on the head with a fake sword and coming home drenched in fake blood are long over.

I'm a huge old school trash fan! Been listening to it since I was born, honestly. (I'm 21)

I saw Gwar a few months back, that was one of the greatest shows I've been to in quite some time.. Gotta say it really sucked leaving the theater into cold weather though. Fake blood is cold as hell as it is and having to remove my shirt didn't help me too much. Hahaha My elastic band on the boxers I wore that night is still pink.

Hoping to catch DRI in October other than that I'm not sure what's going on as far as shows for now.

Got the tickets on pre-order for a discounted price. Now to see if these old guys can still rock.

Yep! But as I grow older my tastes include (old and new) jazz as well. I really do not like much of anything else.

Hell yeah I still listen! It's blasphemy to say this but I gave up on Metallica after Puppets. I was more into bands from Norway, Sweden, Etc. My Ipod just got loaded up with Bathory, Celtic Frost, Mercyful Fate & Venom. [Cheers]

Diamond,

I saw Celtic Frost as an opener for Anthrax a loooong time ago. I've got a few Bathory tunes on my iPod as well. I actually own Venom's "Black Metal" and one of King Diamond's solo albums. For me Metallica lost me in '91 when they put out the "black" album. I saw them on the "...And Justice for All" tour which I really enjoyed.

Fuckin' rights I am! I got introduced to Pantera about two years ago and have been a hardcore of them since. Then I moved on to Phil Anselmo's work, his current band Down is still making music and doing tours but I found his other band Superjoint Ritual to be the bastard child of Pantera!

As for other bands, Metallica for sure, Prong, Hatebreed and a new band that just debuted their first album 'Behind the blackest of tears' Kingdom of Sorrow(Kirk Windstein of Crowbar and Down and Jamey Jasta of Hatebreed). Check em' out fellas! [Smile]

bluetoelover, if you like pantera, check out throwdown.

Throwdown - Holy Roller
(sorry about the 20 sec commercial in the beginning)

now if they dont sound like pantera reincarnated, i dont know who does. i saw prong and pantera in a little club back in like '91 on the cowboys from hell tour and it was awesome. heck, the 'stage' was 12" high and there were only about 75 people at the show. awesome!
