Things have gotten pretty grim in the park. The lawn is basically never open anymore, and even on those rare occasions when it is, women seem to be keeping their shoes on more than ever when they put their feet up. Why? Is it a more self-conscious age? So it's with great relief when I finally do see a pair of tootsies up and it's even greater when the woman seems not to mind and leaves them up as I film.
This was a rare example of such an occasion -- the lawn opened at 5pm (!!!) and I went to see what (if anything) was happening. At first nothing, but then I saw a woman walk onto the lawn carrying a chair from the gravel path. She went over to an unoccupied chair and that immediately drew my attention because when that happens it almost always means she's going to sit on one chair and put her feet on another! But that did not happen, she ate her (lunch? dinner?) on the other chair. DISAPPOINTED. So I walked around the lawn, still not really seeing anything, until later I saw that same woman had cleared the stuff from her meal off that chair ... and she was taking her sandals off! She had those roman style sandals on, cream colored, with all the straps -- they're very popular these days. She got them off and put her feet up on the chair and crossed her ankles, and took out a book.
As you can imagine I lost little time getting over there. I sat down, took the camera out and got ready to do my thing. She looked at me and the camera when I was setting up, gave her feet two or three strong flexes, but then went right back to her book. I started shooting and soon after I started she gave another look at the camera, I guess to see if I was doing what she had earlier suspected I was doing, and yes of course I was! How could I not? She had a wholesome, girl next door attractiveness, was a slim, small gal, and had her golden brown hair in a casual, girlish ponytail. She had the face of so many of the Irish American girls I had grown up with. Her feet were long and slender with a gentle, attractive taper to her toes -- she had obviously been walking around a lot in those leather sandals because there was some street grime on her shapely soles, where the little vents were in the sandals. I had sat close to her and I actually got the aroma of her foot odor mixed with the smell of leather, which is very unusual for me -- I usually don't smell a thing. It wasn't at all an unpleasant smell, but it was definitely there. Maybe I was downwind of her feet or something! lol But anyway as I was saying once shooting was well and truly underway she looked once ... her feet twitched a little ... she looked again ... and her feet twitched some more! But then she just kept on reading.
She would continue to look periodically but there was absolutely no concern or upset in it whatsoever, in fact she would look, then go back to her book, read something funny and chuckle. What I liked the most about this was the way she would flex her bare feet as she read -- she was reading a very smart and unusual book, which marked her as an intelligent woman -- no "Eat Pray Love" for her! I guess she would read something particularly interesting and it would make her feet FLEX quite strongly. This flexing was not non-stop but it was pretty frequent. I shot for about a half hour, until I used up all the space on my camcorder. During that time there were many of those sexy flexes, wrinkles developing on her smooth soft, slightly grimy soles. She also played with her pony tail, twirling it periodically -- I have read that women play with their hair when they know a man is interested in them, so I always find that very cute when a girl I'm shooting does that.
As I mentioned I ran out of available space on my internal memory and had to stop shooting for a minute to switch over to my memory card -- so I had to put the camera down and start playing with the touch screen. She must have noticed that I had stopped pointing the camera at her soles, because she put her feet down, put the roman sandals back on, and left! Whenever that happens I can't help but wonder whether she stayed as long as she did -- bare soles pointed straight at the stranger's camera lens -- because she may have been intrigued by the whole experience. Was she? Who knows. But I'm glad she stayed as long as she did!!!

Nice! What a mischievous smile she has. Pretty when she smiles. Interesting that both of her index fingers were either unpainted, or painted something different than the others.
