So because the lawn where I have shot for so many years is closed constantly in recent years, I’ve been branching out! I’ve also patrolled around the library for almost a decade, with lots of excellent results — but still not enough for me! So I’ve been hitting the waterfront esplanades. It’s incredibly time intensive and, I have to say, for the most part, extremely unproductive.
But ... here’s an exception! This tall slim Indian girl had her long brown leather mules off and her big feet propped up on the back of this park bench. I remember walking down the esplanade and seeing just these two long bare feet and thinking, am I imagining this? Is this a hallucination? When I first coasted by I saw it was a cute girl and so naturally I immediately looked for a place to set the camera up and, eventually, found one. Lots of awkwardness involved in shooting this in a *very* public place — I suffer so for my art!
I have a sense that the girl saw me through the slots on the bench because once i began filming she got “happy feet” and was wiggling those babies all around! You don’t really see her face in this video, by the way.
What you do see is me get very daring at the end. There they were, those big soft bare feet sticking up so much...it was really more than I could resist. I eventually walked right up to her and gave a big bare sole a quick tickle and I asked her the time! The surprising thing about it was how chill she was when I did that and how pleasant a smile she gave me when I touched the bottom of her foot!
