This "dead" skin is a protective layer, and it doesn't necessarilly look unhealthy. Hair and nails (finger- or toe-) are also "dead", but they don't look unhealthy, do they?

I think, this whole argument is pointless. Everybody has his/her own preferences. It's like arguing over what is more preferable - apples or pears; green color or yellow color, etc. (unless, of course, you want to go into details about skin function, foot biomechanics and the likes).

And I don't dislike soft soles.

I am amazed at the scope of different likes and disl;ikes of our fetish. I thought for sure, that it was a clear cut choics of soft soles. However, I see that a lot of you guys like rough and callous soles. To each his own! [Smile]

If I had to pick, I would say soft and smooth, but a little callus is not bad.
