I used to play and did so for a long time. I joined a few months after launch and played all the way through to Wrath of the Lich King was about done. I dedicated so many hours to multiple characters and I do miss it. Doubt I could ever join again though as I'd feel like I missed out on too much content while it was actually important stuff. Once the expansions started rolling, I felt like there was no need to do so much of the game - people just skipped over instances/raids to level up instead.

I heard this game was dangerously addictive so have never tried it 'because of' and treated it like an 'A' class illegal drug I don't really play PC games anyway, last one I played was years ago 'Age Of Mythology'

I'll be honest, it was addictive... BUT!!! When I played WoW, I didn't bother with many console games or my other interests like comic books as much. I had a $13 a month subscription and just played and enjoyed WoW. I had a lot more money saved when I played that game for sure! Now I buy new games and used games that I beat and move on from regularly.

Actually one of the models at the foot party I posted plays it extensively (the one with the big butt). I played WoW quite a bit. It's too time consuming so instead I play Diablo 3.
I've been to the Blizzcons here in OC.. I have to say that it's actually a reasonable place to meet potential fetish models. You wouldn't think so, but if you've been there you'll see it.
70 Holy Priest 70 Fury/Arms Warrior 70 Assassination Rogue 70 Fire Mage 70 Shadow Priest (yes, a 2nd priest)
At the end of WotLK:
80 Death Knight (the disease spec, forget the name)
At that point I really didn't care for the game as much as there began to be way too much focus on people's gear. I had people telling me I couldn't go on raids because my gear wasn't good enough - but what they wanted was gear BETTER than the raid itself so they could fly through. I used to run the healing of 3 classes (priests, druids, and paladins) in 40 man vanilla WoW raids and I had people telling me I couldn't run a 10/25 man Naxx. C'mon!

this game is horribly easy/boring. I grew up on Ultima Online and EverQuest back in the day, so My standards for challenging games are high. Wow is just a dumbed-down, ripped off version of EQ anyway. Too cartoonish and not enough challenge for Me personally.

The comments about people being gear-obsessed, or games not being truly difficult doesn't surprise me.
WoW isn't really a game at all. It's a dream world, and a haven for the socially awkward and depressed. It's better than the real world and they like stay there.
Video games are moving toward online-only, subscription models. They are becoming monetized marketing platforms, like with Zynga. Keep people subscribed and addicted to the idea that they are getting "better" at something.
My brother is actually in the gambling industry and they are tying gambling into video games now.. like Zynga but with real money that can be won.
