looking at some of the women's feet posted here, i suddenly flashed back to a conversation i had with my wife years ago about how she would shape her toenails. i prefer squared ends on her toes and rounded on her hands.. she, of course, prefers it the other way around. being the super awesome fantatsic wife that she is, she actually does them the way that i prefer awwwwww lol

Not only do I prefer them square-trimmed, I've always been told that that is the proper method for avoiding in-grown nails, etc. However, like you, I've noticed that personal preference has a lot to do with it.

never gave it much thought until my wife started asking me to do my hands in a squaredshape cut. i of course shrugged it off like a guy and said who would notice. i've sinced stopped doing it so rounded like (for nail health and her happiness)... and though it's round still, but not as round.
but that is not the point.. i love how she does hers.. though squared, there is a slight hit of roundness to her hands. just love that!
as for her peds. it depends on her mood really. she's not big on maintaining her toenails in any given way either. but since she's due for a pedi from me, i'll give it more thought and see how it goes. if i like the outcome of my work, i'll post a pic

You are correct...toenails should be cut square to avoid ingrowth. I also prefer the square shape...and also slightly longish.
