someone made a thread about software to use to make animated avatars but I can't remember the thread and the search function doesn't yield the results I need...

No the search function works, problem is it is not capable of searching all the forums simultaneously, just one at at time. You have to use the drop down box to search each forum.
The Foot Fetish Talk and Foot Fetish Pictures forums are the most active, and sometimes there's overlap in what is discussed, so anytime I am looking for something I always check those two places.
The thread in question is in the Foot Pictures forum. And the software I used was Super C.

Oh yeah, looks awesome! You should go to the menu and select Animation, then Rearrange Frames and then click on pin-pong animation. You will get a seamless playback. After you do that, go to Animation and select Thin(Reduce Frame Count) and click ok. Do the same steps over one more time with the Thin function and you should be able to get a way smaller sized gif from 1.7MB to 570KB with the same quality. Give it a shot!
