I do it since I know some people not familiar with a foot fetish will think you like both sexes feet if you only say you have a foot fetish or that you like feet. I know that's my reasoning.

This is an interesting - and perceptive - observation.
I suppose it stems from a concern that there is a lack of understanding about what a foot-fetish truly is. This forum is very clearly dedicated to women's feet; that we are heterosexual (confidently so) and find feet a sexual fascination.
Additionally, the problem may be in the language. Perhaps, it isn't sufficient to say that one is attracted to "feet" as it seems the attraction doesn't acknowledge a gender and seems as though it is saying "all feet". Any real time spent looking through the threads would certainly belie that.
I could continue to ruminate but will spare you all.

Truly interesting observation. It would be fascinating to do a study on this- asking people how they interpret a guy saying that he "loves feet" WITHOUT saying "a woman's". My guess is that most women at least would understand that he loves only female feet. Guys might think that he might love both.

I think part of it is the wording. For example I still like breasts but I wouldn't label myself a breast fetishist. I like legs but I am not a leg fetishist. However if you like feet your labelled and accept to be labelled a foot fetishist. Why not just be you and you like feet.
I really do think it's the word "fetish" that makes it weird for others. Sounds a bit perverse and has so much stigma attatched to it with news paper headlines of "Foot fetish man rapes shoe" or what ever.
Dump the fetish and just be you and you like feet. Pretty sure no one here is on the McDonalds fetish forum but still visit McDonalds more times a month that suck toes, worship soles or get footjobs.

It's pretty easy to distinguish between a woman's breast and a man's. It's fairly easy to distinguish between a woman's ass and a man's. It get a little more murky when it comes to distinguishing between a female foot and a man's. My fetish is very selective so a foot without my characteristic feminine traits doesn't do it for me. This is why I think people ask that question. There are some females that post whose feet look like guy feet yet guys still obsess over those too. Alot of times what we as awhole like isn't feminine even but simply a body part. Imagine going to a breast forum and some guy posting a picture of his pecs face unseen. How do you think they'd react? We are different.

I'd have to agree with the fact that quite a few people believe it or not are not familiar with foot fetish and are surprised that a man can be turned on by women's feet.

Just to be sure, thats why I say it. there are unfortunately people in the world that pose as women and that is disgusting. Also some mtf people that think that just because they are trannies, or what not that it is the same. imho, it is not the same, and still disgusting imho.

You are exactly right! News Flash to trannies you are not women please stop pretending. To each there own but just because you dress like a woman or chop off your penis that does not make you a woman LOL! You need an XX chromosome to be a woman. Anyways feet are very gender neutral you always have to clarify you like womens feet. The "fetish" only adds more stigma.

I would want it to be quite clear at the begining in that type of conversation or statement that i am interested in women's feet only. By not emphasizing the women part, there are people out there who would assume you like any kind of feet. Men, Transvesites, Staight out gays and kids are not by any means, part of the equasion. Unless there is clarity in the statement regarding women, someone might assume the worse and as a result,your reputation goes down the toilet.
