Agreed. 90% of the time, there's a huge difference between a 16-year old and an 18-year old, physically and mentally.

I would have looked yes, a quick reactionary glance that I give anytime I notice a girl in sandals but once I was able to guess that she might possibly be under the age of 18 I would have kept going about my business.
If you have to question how old a girl is(in terms of legality issues) then chances are she is too young.

Don't some of these AOC laws (if not all of them) have a 4-6 year grace period? Meaning if she's 16, you need to at least be 4-6 years older (depending on that state) or else you'll be violating the law?
For instance, if State X has the AOC at 16, and the grace period is 4 years, if you're older than 4 years you can still get turned in for statutory rape. Meaning, in this example, 17 to 20 is okay, but if you're 21 on up = jail.

Then why are people bringing up AOC if it doesn't matter and not talking about sex? Can't have it both ways.
*I* didn't bring it, I simply clarified, cause I always notice when people bring it up they leave out the 4-6 year grace period, mostly cause they didn't know it existed or bothered to look deeper into it. Its just 16-17 = legal = "yay, I can look/fondle/have sex her!" And no, its not that simple. It seems bringing up AOC is some way to assuage guilt over looking at a young girl's feet or it wouldn't have been brought up at all, if what you're saying is true and no one is talking about sex. Right? Again, can't have it both ways.
Its a slippery slope that I wish people wouldn't get on.

That's above the age of consent here so if that happened here, why not? The human brain does a few checks to see if a woman is "of the age to have sex with" or more technically "able to and healthy enough to produce kids". 16 is fine, mentally they might not be, but when I was 16 all my female friends were off having sex.
At 14-15 they had sex with people their age. At 16+ they had sex with people their age and up to 30's. At 18+ anything goes.

Nope. I'm not sure why some US states impose that, as the body and majority of minds are mature enough at 16 to decide who they want to have sex with. According to studies I used to read (as part of my BSc once upon a time) that weren't written by right wing, religious, American research groups.

Morality is a fairly modern and unique construct for humans. No other creature on earth demonstrates it.
