Here`s a scenario that I have never understood:
Imagine a guy runs a website and hires a model. He tells her to polish her toes. She arrives and her beautiful toes look amazing...perfectly pedicured, plus she is wearing toe rings. Then he shoots 100+ photos of her....but all the pics are only of her soles...not a single one shows her toes at a full view. In the end the webmaster uploads a photo series to the members area of his website which only shows the models soles...not a single top-view of her toes...if you`re lucky you may see a tiny glimpse of her toes at an awkward side angle.
Why do so many photographers do this? It is a phenomenen that I have seen in hundreds of photosets and on dozens of websites. I could understand it if the model had ugly toes...but many of these girls have perfect looking toes with a fresh pedicure. What a waste! Do these photographers/webmasters not understand that there are loads of guys out there who are into toes? Not everybody is ONLY into soles!
If you`re into soles that is obviously fine (no offense...this is in no way meant to be a soles vs. toes post!), but why tell your model to polish her toes in the first place when you`re not going to take one single photo of them? It`s lame and stupid...plus, you`re getting less members because toe-guys arenīt going to join your website.

For me its just a personal preference. The soles are not seen as much as the toes. BUt Hal is correct...we as photographers could do a better job at toes....I will try harder Hal!!! Good luck guys!

I found for the longest time that most sites had less sole shots than toe shots. It was a nice little surprise to find the sole view. Plus, for many people toes are seen more than anything else when it comes to feet. A woman stands on her soles and therefore you do not get to see them as much.
As for my site, I am a sole guy and my site is something I'd enjoy doing whether or not I was making lots of cash, or just enough to run it. I even put soles in my site's title, Soles of Silk, because that is the site's main focus. I see lots of toe shots on your site and with your samples, but I'd think that would be the case with your site's title too, Toes in Action.
To me, there are enough web sites out there that offer everything and there are enough of us out there that offer specialty items. There are sites for big feet, older feet, long toes, foot domination, etc. I say to each their own if everyone is happy.
But to answer your question, I think the nail polish comes into play because even with sole shots you can see toes, so why not have them looking nice. I ask them to shave their legs too. ROFL...

ima sole man personally but even i like to see the toes here and there just for the sake of at least seeing them. so to all the sole & foot photographers out there, plz try to spend at least a little time on the toes.
that is part of the female foot and should be showcased as well, although i will admit that it doesn't need to be seen quite as much as the soles tho. just some ernest advice to help the occasional clueless webmaster and/or photographer out there

@ Patrick: I wasn`t actually even thinking of your website. I was thinking of a site where the model ironically said during the photo session that she loves her toes and that she had just got a fresh pedicure...but the photographer didnīt show her toes in a single shot! I know that you post toes of your models in picture sets and I appreciate it.
So as much as I also love soles, what I mean is: Would it be too much to ask for a photographer to take at least one (!!!) photo of a woman`s toes...even if the main focus of the site is on soles? It shouldn`t really be a problem...especially if she went to all the trouble of getting a perfectly fresh pedicure. If a photographer doesn`t do this I guess he is either stubborn or just too obsessed with soles. Or not listening to his customers....because some of my members have been telling me to show more legs/calves in my sets and I now do....I never thought of this before they mentioned it. Iīm not saying that sites shouldn`t specialize in either soles or toes, but if somebody is going to shoot 100+ photos of a model at least take 5 pics of her toes from a top view.
My website is called Toes-in-Action but I still shoot at least 50-70% sole shots. In fact go to my website now and check out the front page....I think at the moment 95% of the preview pics are sole shots
And I donīt ever recall a time when more toes were seen on sites...even though Iīve been on the net since 1995. Soles were always all the rage, in my opinion...but maybe I just visited the wrong sites. And mostly when soles are being shot I can`t see the toes from a top view...at least not without x-ray specs
Just wanted to get this topics out because Iīm not sure if all webmasters even know that there are toe-guys like us out there.

To have a successful site you need to cater to all the taste's out there, toes, soles, foot jewellery, heels, nylons, flip flops etc... you may have a model who has nicer soles than toes but what one thinks is nice is not what another may find nice. Give love to the whole foot, i know i do when photographing my models!

I agree 100%. Same here...if a model has nice soles I will take more photos of her soles, if she has nice toes more of her toes, if she has nice arches...legs...etc. etc.

I'm a toes guy but do tend to take pictures of soles, foot jewelry, flip-flops, etc. to even out the set. I even do shoots that really doesn't do anything for me, but I know does lots for others.

Hal, No worries my friend. I wasn't offended at all. Heehee... I always play devil's advocate anyhow. I try to throw in some toe shots just as much as I try to make sure I have shots of spread toes, scrunched soles, etc. because of each person's likes.
Now onto the sole shots that show the toes... Or are they gas efficient hybrids? LOL...

There is so many sub-fetishes, the photographer needs to remember this. I like a site that caters to as many sub-fetishes as possible.
