Might be time for me to learn.

I'm surprised I missed this on the first time around.

I play the guitar for a living. My degree is in Psychology but the only thing for which I could get people to give me money is by playing the guitar.

No...I'm not well-known. You may have heard me on some commercial jingles.

I still perform but am held in high regard for my teaching, anywhere from beginner to College level.

If some members need help or advice, please feel free to PM me.

I started on trumpet in 3rd grade band class. Farty geek stuff. Too bad they never introduced us to Miles. Only years later did I discover what the real jazz was all about.

Picked up guitar around 11, took lessons, played in bands, then started building my own instruments at 19.
That led to a full time gig doing set-ups and repairs for several well known Southern California area music stores, and making custom orders. Did that for about 10 years.

These days I'm into ballroom dancing. Loads of fun with the ladies.

I've got a cheap acoustic about 4months ago and had about a 3week run, learning chords and songs but the mojo has died off. My resolution this year is to be more active so I'll pick it up and play for at least 15mins right now.

I've been playing for years and years, not that the quality of my playing reflects that fact. My wife plays guitar, my daughter guitar and violin, my son plays guitar and bass.

My current set-up is:
1972 Les Paul Deluxe
2001 Schecter C-1 Classic
1979 Ibanez 2618
2004 Epi Jorma Kaukonen Riviera
2001 Epi Chet Atkins SST
2009 Alavarez ADK 60
2007 Vox AC30CC2+BN212 Cab

Yeah, everything was entirely handmade.

The idea for the pearl inlays were inspired by a memorable trip to Tahiti.

I drew the pattern on paper and then used that as a template to cut the abalone and mother of pearl with a jewelers saw.

The body was hollow routed from a solid block of Honduras Mahogany, top carved from master grade bookmatched sitka spruce, a Brazilian rosewood fingerboard, solid ebony bridge & tailpiece with a bone saddle, Seymour Duncan 59s, and a sunburst nitrocellulose lacquer finish.

It had a nice acoustic/electric tone.

Almost a shame to sell them when they're done, so much personal time and labor is involved. Owner lives across the country.

Maybe I'll see her again someday.

I've been playing since 1994.

I have a black Ibanez RG 7-string and a red Fender Stratocaster. I use the Ibanez more because of the wider neck, but I don't have the 7th string on there. My amp is an "inexpensive" Marshall with some digital effects and one straight cab.

That's it. Pretty simple. [Smile]
