Personally, feet that are clean and odourless are almost worthless. I can't remember the amount of times I'd be with a girl and she'd let me have her feet only to find that they were completely clean. I would get bored after maybe 10 seconds.
Smell is pretty much the reason I'm into feet.
As for whether it's the smell itself or the fact it comes from feet - I suppose it's the latter. I do actually like the smell but this is only triggered when I know it's coming from feet.

the smell is great plus even better she is making us smell them like we are worthless beneath her feet and that is what counts most! women rule and the stinkier, the more they are in control!!!

Mentally i get off on the idea that this (hypothetical) chick has been walking around on her feet all day and she ended up here with my nose on her feet.
The smell gives me a boner so I will ask my boner next time and get back to you.

s very important. If there is a smell I enjoy everything SO much more.
But, like it's been said before the mind has a lot to do with the excitement behind female foot stink. It turns me on knowing that woman has been on her feet all day pouring set on them and working up a smell then those feet are going on my face to tantalize and tease my senses and even in my mouth.
The taste when you get it just right is just amazing.

I swear, guys who like to smell women's feet have got to be the most looked-down-upon and/or misunderstood fetishists around, ironically even by other foot fetishists.
Asking a guy (or girl) why they like to smell women's feet is like your average titty guy asking a foot guy how in the world he could be sexually attracted to women's feet.
I'm a die hard foot sniffer so the feet have got to be scented or I'm thoroughly disappointed. Sight and smell are the two most important factors of my foot fetish. I visually must see the soles wrinkled up to get aroused but the icing on the cake is to get close and lightly inhale the smell that can only come from one place. Both MUST exist for me or else I run a very high risk of getting a flat tire.
That's not to say all scents that come from a woman's foot are pleasurable or that they're all equal. In my experiences it's far more common to come across a woman whose feet have no scent at all than to find one whose feet have an unpleasant scent. Several women that I've dated who knew I liked feet always sterilized their feet before I came over thinking that's what I wanted but seeing as how a lot of foot fetishists don't even get into sniffing I can see how an "outsider" would immediately come to that conclusion.
Not sure if this provided enough info from a foot sniffer to answer your question as to why we like what we like. I could write a book on the scent of a woman's foot and my theories behind it so I'll stop before I end up writing too much.

HOUSESHOOZ I feel your pain as i love the smell of women's feet too. Not only that but your remarks are highly insightful. We are,in deed, the lowest men on the foot-totem-pole;even below the "toe suckers"(foot tasters).
I don't even tell chicks that i smell their feet;I just sneaks whiffs in between kisses.
Nevertheless the joke is on them. This is because we enjoy women's feet with 4 of our senses instead of the average 3.
My question for you houseshooz and all you other fellow foot sniffers is: would you rather taste a chick's foot or smell it?

I've never met a girl who's feet actually smelled bad. My girlfriends feet wouldn't smell after she ran a marathon. This is just fine and dandy with me, i can't imagine being attractive to dust or bacteria, and honestly if a girls hygiene is bad enough to let her feet smell she probably smells everywhere else also.

Between taste and smell, it's sniffing all the way for me. Regarding the 5 senses in order from most important to least I'd categorize them as: sight, smell, touch, sound and taste.
